I was comparing my last year's purchase of both wheels and winter tires from PMC tires eBay to some of the current online retailers. The savings was roughly $115 bucks

Even if you just need tires it's worth checking unless your old tires are totally bald. Getting the free mount & balance for buying both + the money I got from selling my old rims & tires together was cheaper than just buying tires and having them mounted.

My winter shitbox is going to be the cutlass

The tire code is D0T M3H3 819X 050

Who wants to guess if they are 1990 or 2000 production?

Im gonna rock these in the winter, dont need no CC2, surprisingly no cracks or dry rot either

I’m going to take care of naan bread when you die this winter. I’ll make sure to ship her back to India for you

I'm a year into the Cinturauto Weather Actives and really nothing bad to report. Tread is really quiet...

Continental VC8 win!

Put on my Weatherready 2's the other day, pretty happy with them so far.

Perfect for days like today where it was 2 degrees overnight and 14 in the day. Don't feel like I'm skating on ice in the morning with my PS4S's, and destroying my old XIce's in the afternoon.

One thing I didn't notice earlier, they're made in Canada!

I like the tread pattern! Looks so much better than 'you know what'.
Spoiler!

How did I know exactly what the following post would be :lol

RabidRat 11-03-2025 08:57 AM

How much is a tire mounting machine? Can we all chip in for one??

Canadian Tire just quoted me $180+tax to swap my winter tires over, wtf.

68style 11-03-2025 09:41 AM

This setup is pretty cost effective, I know one RS member who bought this and is pretty happy with it!

Try Tires 23 in Markham or CEO Tires in Scarborough.

Come on, man? You know the proper thing to do is to put the winter tires on a separate set of wheels!

And then it's just swapping the winter & summer set, which you can do in your driveway / parking spot.

Gumby 11-03-2025 11:19 AM

Don't get any work done at Canadian Tire - I've come across many horror stories.

Or... Braiden Tire in Markham or Steelcase in Markham

bcrdukes 11-03-2025 11:51 AM

My most memorable experience with Braiden Tire was when I was looking for a helmet.

I went in store and a guy showed me some helmets. He dropped one on the floor and it cracked. Picked it back up and asked if I wanted it, and if yes, he'd give me a 15% discount (pending Brad's approval.) :lol

I know... usually yes. But the cheapest used set of OEM wheels I could find for the i3 on Craigslist, was $1800.

And there's only a single aftermarket wheel in existence that fits the i3, and it's not in stock anywhere in Canada. $1400 + tax for a set from TireRack, and then shipping and duties and tariffs and whatever else haha.

19x5; 5x112; +43. Yes. 5" wide wheels :(.

In case anyone is waiting on the CC3/CC3 Sport locally the word on the street is that they aren't coming till at least spring 2026 and that might even be optimistic.

Oh it's for an i3. All is forgiven...

(In theory, can't you run something ridiculous that pokes out of the fenders big time? )

So that is one concern on the BMW i3 ... you probably searched all weather in that size? If it is so hard to find wheel, the only other option is to go all weather and keep those on year round.

yray 11-04-2025 09:37 AM

with euros its worth a try to go to the dealer to get a set, you can get some weird deals since no chinese guy would buy an extra set of winters wheels

I had winters for my slk and I also got a set of chains for it too :lol

EvoFire 11-04-2025 11:15 AM

Some times some of the dealers have ok deals for winter sets. It's not gonna blow your socks off but also not anywhere close to their retail either.

Some guy on Reddit tried 255s :D

195s might look a little less ridiculous but probably still kinda sketchy haha.

Ya :(. There are only 3 tires in North America available in 155/70R19:
1) Bridgestone ECOPIA EP600: all-season tire (OEM and complete garbage. never ever again!!)
2) Bridgestone ECOPIA EP500: summer tire (currently on the vehicle))
3) Continental VikingContact 7: winter tire (needs to get on the vehicle because it's 5C right now!!)

Also in Ontario you get an insurance discount if you swap over to winter tires in the winter. So we'd have to give that up, even if there were all-weathers available.

Tire options for the BMW i3 are really absurd. A friend used to have one, and he told me there is like 1 tire choice for summer, and 1 tire choice for winter. From searching on TR just now, I see 1 summer tire, 1 all season (ie. 3 seasons), and no winter options at all.
