I'm not familiar with truck tires but I'm looking to find some 255/265/65/70/17" tire for a semi lifted look. that has ms logo that will be ok on one trip on the coq. Then just normal Vancouver driving what do you guys recommend that is budget friendly?

GabAlmighty 10-02-2018 07:59 PM

Get an AT tire. No sense getting an MT as you'll just get a VI.

+1

That was my logic after having the Latitude Xi2s that sucked real bad in the slush - why bother spending the money on winter tires and dealing with the hassle if they're still gonna suck?

WS80s were ordered for the other car

I think i'm out of date. When did the General Altimax Arctic 12 come out? I JUST saw them at work. They have a more angular vee tread rather than the old curved vee-shape
I think they'll be quite promising.

Anyone used or know anything about the good ride winter tires. Looking for a cheap alternative. Are they good enough for our winters?

Anyone have experience with Nokian Hakkapelitta's and tread wear?
Kal-Tire doesn't list a tread wear guarantee for them.

Interested in the Hakkapelitta R3 but concerned they will wear out after a couple winters...

The R3 were released earlier this year along with the WRG4... don't think there will be too much info available.

The R2 seem to have pretty good treadwear based on RFD anecdotes, but the R3 has shifted to a construction similar to WS80 with softer rubber on the outside

Size question

What’s the difference 205/55/16 vs 205/60/16
Will either of this work for winters
My stock is 225/40/18

Assuming no clearance issues, 205/55-16 will match your oem tire size diameter.

205/60-16 is about 2.4% bigger.

What size are your rims? 205's on 8" might be a stretch.

Damn. 225's on 6.5"?
I thought that would be kind of narrow for 225's.

But anyhow, 205/55-16 will be perfect.

The 225 are on the summer rims which are 18s

The 205 are going on winter rims which are 16s

I emailed them to change it to 205/55/16. Thanks for the help.

Dragon-88 10-10-2018 01:24 PM

AzNightmare 10-10-2018 01:44 PM

Where's a good shop to mount snow tires on my beater oem rims? Cheaper the better... As long as it's professional and done right.

I'm mounting a set of Toyo Celsius on my winter wheels this weekend
https://www.1010tires.com/Tires/Toyo/Celsius/128980

They just dropped by $50/tire overnight. At least in the size I'm getting
235/45/18

UnknownJinX 10-10-2018 04:13 PM

One of my friends has those and he really likes them.

I haven't put on my winters yet because it's not cold enough yet. Will probably put them on towards the end of the month.

Expresso 10-10-2018 04:33 PM

Anyone try Champiro WinterPros?

Liquid_o2 10-10-2018 05:24 PM

You guys are mounting winter tires already? The average low in October is 8 degrees. Unless you are going into the mountains, wait till mid-November.

Just looking for a place to mount and balance my new tires on my winter rims. Better to do it now before it gets too busy in the shops. In terms of actually putting the winter wheels on the car, that can probably wait until next month.
