Proof? That’s against Costco’s code of ethics. So if you could go back, prove the average market price was lower than Costco by said 15-20% then they lowered to match, please share

This appears to be a global issue with Michelin and not specific to Costco in my recent experiences. I've been shopping around for tires on my Boxster and no luck with Costco and independent shops. Similar experience for my Hankook.

If you dig around on the internet, they bumped up production priority this year to meet demand of their race tires and commitment to the various race series where they are a title tire sponsor.

Was excited to grabs some PS4s. Leaving disappointed.

I will take screenshots next time. The TV was something like $1100 then jumped to $1300 less 20%. LG wash tower was $2200 and increased to $2400 less 20%.

you will be fine with AT's if you drive to the conditions.

I never run dedicated winters on any of my trucks.

For what it's worth the wash tower price has been going up everywhere (I just bought one) and I remember seeing the price go up at Costco and then I was at Home Depot the same day and their prices had also gone up (Costco was still the cheapest). Appliance prices are sky high - I originally saw the wash tower for $2k and ended up paying $2400 for it. If Costco did do what you described and lower their prices after the sale people can always get a price adjustment.

Prices for a lot of things have gone up in general. Plus with a big brand like LG, all major retailers follow a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) to ensure they're consistent everywhere.

I've been keeping an eye out on PS4S's myself, and remember Michelin communicating about multiple price hikes earlier this year:

If you're not used to it, just get winters.

I've done the drive in my 4wd Pathfinder with KO2's. It can get sketchy in the icy sections 100% but in slush and snowy / unplowed sections, they're very good.

I am however far more alert than when I drive my awd sedan with dedicated winters but that goes without saying.

Can always try Discount Tire if you don't mind buying from the States, shipping it to the border and driving back over.

Not sure about the situation now, but I was able to buy the tires I wanted back in March. Great prices and the fact they even had stock was already a bonus. Ended up saving a couple hundred all said and done, even after paying the taxes.

I dumped my KO2's for Geolandar G015's earlier this year on the F150. Same 3-peak snowflake rating, E-load range. So far since putting them on they've been better than the KO2's in every way that I use them for, especially in the wet. Looking forward to trying them in some snow. The KO2's were not spectacular last winter in the bit of snow I did encounter IMO.

A little off-topic: Are cops going to be very strict and run road blocks from Vancouver-Kelowna right on Oct 1 if we continue getting this warmer/hot weather or will they start road-blocks once the temperature really starts dipping (single digits)?

It all the years driving out there in the winter, never was pulled over once for this, or went through any road blocks.

k3mps 09-10-2022 12:02 AM

I encountered a road block once during a snow storm in 2020. Several people were turned away

Unless there is a reason for them to be out there, (impending bad weather), i've never seen them there enforcing anything.

So i'd say you will be fine assuming a snow storm isn't brewing.

While this type of advice applies to normal cars, for light trucks it makes far less sense.

I know maybe two people who own trucks who actually bother with swapping winter to summers on their trucks, and thats because they run studdeds.

Most good light truck tires (Duratracs, AT3W's, Toyo AT3's, General Grabbers, Cooper STT's, etc) have a mountain snowflake symbol and are perfectly acceptable in all winter conditions. They also come with the added benefit of never requiring to be swapped in seasons, cause they are just as good in summer.

Why add more headache to your life. Just get a set of Duratracs or AT3W's on the runner and you are good to go. I will never advise KO2's to anyone cause I feel they are dog shit, but plenty of people will recommend them, whatever.

underscore 09-10-2022 07:58 AM

I've run KOs, KO2s, Grabbers and Duratracs in the winter, and yes they are perfectly acceptable (except the Grabbers, those were worthless on ice) but I had the benefit of driving on them on snow and ice in town a bunch before hitting highways and mountain passes. Someone going from Vancouver to the passes with no experience is going to need all the help they can get, and actual snow tires are quite a bit better so that's why I'd recommend them.

On a side note I thought the KO2s were fine but compared to the original KO they were disappointing. Even when quite low on tread the KO would go through plenty of stuff that brand new KO2s seemed to struggle on.

Costco has the Bridgestone Weatherpeak all weather tires on sale with $120 rebate until Sept 25. Just bought a set and should be installing them today.

I saw this dude today in his Acura TL with Steelies and winter tires on already. Gave him a weirdo ass look but I don’t think he saw me.

I'm shocked at how many people are running their winters year round nowadays. Not the WRG4/CrossClimate stuff but Blizzaks and X-Ice tires.

I noticed the same in Toronto this year. Lots of SUVs and medium sized sedans DGAF and run their winters year round.

I had Blizzak melting like jello when the temps were over 10 degrees.
