Best private sale you could have possibly gotten. And you never even had lay a hand on or take those dirty old tires to piss off the wife! Win win win. :concentrate:

Worth it. Don't have to deal with Marketplace/Craigslist time wasters.

Funny thing is, I even told the tech guy to save my tires prior to them getting installed.

I happed to luck out because I decided to grab a hot dog and hangout in the parking lot while they were being installed, so I saw immediately when they finished up on my car.

Popped the trunk and the tires weren't there, went straight back to the garage and had a tech bag and roll them out for me.

I have no doubt that if I wasn't around those tires would've been gone.

That is some shady stuff. I wouldn't expect it coming from Costco. Did the service advisor not write on the work order *keep customers old tires and leave them in trunk*?
Or the tire tech at Costco don't know how to read work orders properly.

Apparently not?

Hearing that others had the same issue at this location makes me wonder if there's some funny stuff going on.

Teriyaki 11-05-2022 12:00 PM

Just playing devils advocate, maybe they just do so many dang tire swaps in a day with the majority of them being tossed normally it's just muscle memory at that point?

unit 11-05-2022 12:35 PM

wow $550? amazing. beats having to meet up with some weirdo on craigslist and then selling them for $200.

Nah man. Techs wouldn't throw away tires with 70% tread remaining. If customers dont want them, and there is nothing wrong with them, someone will take them home.

Lol. You’re not wrong. I’ll add to this later

Kilinim 11-06-2022 04:59 AM

Figured I'd take advantage of maybe the last nice day yesterday and swapped over to the winters

Badhobz 11-06-2022 06:41 AM

If you don't go back for that torque check at Costco can they void the warranty ? This torque check is annoying

lol, this past summer, I sold my summer set for $50. It only had 3/32 left and I advertised it as such. I was either going to throw it out or get something. So I decided to get "something" instead of nothing.

There's always some "wacko" out there.

Badhobz 11-06-2022 12:17 PM

Wackos every where.

In my case, yeah it said clearly on the work order to keep tires.

Coworker ordered some WRG4 tires online from Kal Tire and went in for installation this weekend. She was originally quoted for the cost of the tires and tire installation, but also got a surprise alignment charge on her bill because the advisor said it was required to validate the warranty. When asked why they didn't inform her right away when she dropped the vehicle off or get a call for authorization, the advisor told her it was because her alignment was off so they just performed the work.

Now I can't verify if her wheel alignment is actually off - but how would you guys approach this scenario where the shop performed extra work on the vehicle without an authorization? I told her I've never had to pay for an alignment as part of a new tire installation, and it gave me the impression they just took advantage of her.

underscore 11-07-2022 10:23 AM

Did they print out a pre and post alignment report?

bcrdukes 11-07-2022 10:36 AM

Wow, that's such a dick bag move. They need to inform the customer first to get consent to the work, and yes, there needs to be a before/after alignment. I suspect they took advantage of her. I would raise this to a manager at the shop.
