Blackcircles 12% off Michelin snow tires plus $100 rebate. Hell of a deal.

lilaznviper 10-31-2022 11:40 AM

was looking at the x ice for my prius at costco. The promo seems to be over and now they have stock. anyone know if they will come out with some rebates again soon or should i just grab them now and forgo the extra discount. I think it was 130$ off if i bought 4 tires.

Soon but not yet. Gotta get em all rebalanced first. Might wait until daytime temps stay closer to under 10°.

Wait… what? Just looked at the forecast for next week

I put my winters on last week. Realized this weekend the tires have a rotational direction, and I had rotated them all the way around. So had to re-rotate yesterday. But they're on!

trollface 10-31-2022 05:42 PM

Just drive backwards.

Eff-1 11-01-2022 12:44 PM

In 2018 I bought a new set of Blizzaks.

I drive to/from Whistler a lot and so I put these tires to the test and they were great.

Until last year, I felt the performance dropped a fair bit. I figured after 4 winters, they must be worn down. But actually I could see lots of tread left.

I read that it was most likely due to the multi-cell compound wearing down, leaving just the normal compound remaining. But my problem with that is the tires had very low mileage. The snow table wear indicator is still pretty good, and the dealership who did my recent service said they had 70% left. So I can't help but feel ripped off a bit.

Anyways, long story short, tomorrow I'm throwing them out and putting on a new set of X Ice Snows and excited to test them out this winter.

Badhobz 11-01-2022 02:00 PM

Why throw them out ? I’m pretty sure if you list it on marketplace or Craig’s you can get some wacko to come by and pay you money for them.

Eff-1 11-01-2022 02:07 PM

I know what you mean, but I live in a condo and have no place to store them, even temporarily. I'm also so busy that I don't really have time to deal with selling them and if my wife saw me bring home a set of old tires with no place to keep them I'd be in trouble lol.

320icar 11-01-2022 02:31 PM

What size? I’ll take em then lol

Whoa, did you miss the memo that we all gotta get CrossClimate2s?

Surely someone on RS could/would come and pick them up from you? Unless they're some super weird sizing that no one else drives.

Eff-1 11-01-2022 04:03 PM

yes! I ordered mine about a month ago and only checked in to this thread about a week ago and started reading all the fuss about the CC2s and for a minute had a second thought.

I saw a pair in person the other day, they are definitely unique looking. But I think I am happy running 17" winters on steel rims and the 18" summer rims. The thicker sidewall is better for the unplowed, hard packed winter roads.

Kk you all have convinced me lol to keep them and try and sell them. Honestly I will sell them very cheap to just get rid of them for a few bucks. I will find a place to keep them temporarily (probably my parents garage haha). They are 225/65/17.

Badhobz 11-01-2022 04:59 PM

im sure that'll go pretty fast. Ive even had a few bites on the wife's RX350 tires that are ~1/2 tread. considering they are 20's im surprised i had any hits at all.

twitchyzero 11-01-2022 09:08 PM

being 20+ diameter would have people looking for deals?
i see them at costco kal cdn tire starting easily 1200-1300$ now

Badhobz 11-02-2022 06:05 AM

^dats true. The crossclimate2's on her RX cost me 1400 bucks w/ that costco rebate. :alone:

Hopefully, the wifey will have a grin when you tell her that I got $X00 for the set of old snow tires, let's go out to one of those Michelin Star restaurants and give that a try.

westopher 11-02-2022 06:25 AM

Lol it’s the Michelin guide doing exactly as intended. Keep those tire sales coming.

lowside67 11-02-2022 08:26 AM

$2100 with taxes for those Michelins for my Durango, after promo, without install. UGH.

Going to stick with that being a nice weather only vehicle and rock the Blizzaks on the Mazda 3, that's gross.

At first, I thought it was just a coincidence ... what does food and tires have in common? Then I found out it's the same Michelin company !!

Eff-1 11-02-2022 08:45 AM

Yes. Basically in the 1900s, when Michelin tire company was founded, they decided to create a printed guide that motorists could use to help them plan road trips. Where to stay, where to eat, etc. And from there it took off and eventually became a restaurant review guide that promotes tourism.

68style 11-02-2022 10:18 AM

I remember purchasing a michelin map app for my phone when driving around Europe win 2015... it was so much better than google at the time! I still have the app on my phone lol... it was a pay app too, haven't opened it in years but it was really good in ways google couldn't touch.
