Lottomax = 1 in 28,633,528
Powerball = 1 in 175,223,510

It's all relative.

^ What the hell is going on with BC's Lotto Max, I'm starting to believe something shady is going on behind the scenes. How long does it take to be able to verify a damn ticket. The story keeps getting fishier & fishier!!! The winner happens to wait 1 whole year to cash in a ticket worth 50 Million all the while losing interest over that span. Any sane, logical, person with half a brain wouldn't wait a whole year to cash in 50 Million. There's got to be more to this story I'd bet dollars to donuts. 4 Months after the ticket was claimed they can't make a decision if the presenter of the ticket is the rightful owner...

And today is the introduction of the new higher Lotto Win Cap at 55 Million. I won't be surprised if there's some sort of corruption scandal within the internal Lottery ranks that comes to light in the future. FailFish

I doubt there is something going on with the lottery corp. I'd say the person who handed in the ticket has something to hide. They verified the ticket is real but the claimant has no proof it is theirs. I'd bet the ticket is stolen from someone close to them and they don't want the rightful owner finding out. Or it was a group purchased ticket and someone is trying to keep it to themselves. $50MM will make people do weird things.

EmperorIS 07-18-2015 08:55 AM

If I won a jack pot I'd go in a disguise (for the photo)... like a fake beard etc. Then legally change my name afterwards.

Or just pay someone to claim the prize.

falcon 07-18-2015 03:46 PM

Or change my name before going, wear the disguise. Then change it back after.

StylinRed 07-18-2015 06:50 PM

Or you know.... don't be paranoid and just collect it and tell anyone you're afraid? of hounding you to fuck off...

With 55 million, I'll take 15 million for houses, cars, bills, food, expenses for the rest of my life and my families life.

Stash away 5 million collecting interest for my kids when they grow to teenagers.

Stash away another 5 million for my grandchildren.

Another 5 million for my grand grand children.

5 million for my grand grand grand children.

5 million for my grand grand grand grand children.

5 million for my grand grand grand grand grand children.

Ok, I'm lost, how many millions do I have left?

Edit - 5 million for my grand grand grand grand grand grand grand children.

And the last 5 million, yup.

punkwax 07-18-2015 09:14 PM

Heard a good poll question, I think it was on the news, asking what you would do if you won $55M.

A - Quit with no notice
B - Quit with two weeks notice
C - Keep working

Wouldn't choose C myself. Would like to think I would choose B, but really, I'd be so checked out I think option A would be beneficial to all :p

But you are suppose to sign your ticket when you get it.

Just but it all in the bank and live off the interest. Sooner or later you will have bought everything you could think of and that 50 mill will start to grow. Also 5 Mill for your great grand kinds will not be that much.

murd0c 07-18-2015 11:36 PM

If you invest 5 mill for your great grand kids right now when they are of age that will be lots and lots of money..

I'd go into work and tell them I just won the jackpot and that I'm quitting effective immediately. I'd be so checked out and thinking about all the ways I'd spend the money that there is absolutely 0% chance that I'd do anything remotely productive at work.

In general, if you give a 16 year old 5 million, given he doesn't just blow it on hookers and blow, he can live off of it for the rest of his life.

I would have my assets and whatever is left from the 15 million inherited to my kids, then my kids' asset to my grand kids, etc. etc. The 5 million would probably just be spending money for my whole generation.

And like murd0c said, put it in an interest collecting account, you would generate almost a million at 1% interest by the time your kids is 16. Never mind my grand kids' account.

Ching.Chong 07-19-2015 01:22 AM

if they don't post the names, people will think that it is fixed. They want the public to have the sense that the winners are random, and anyone can win it!

Razor Ramon HG 07-19-2015 02:57 AM

Man, assuming an interest rate of 1%, that's $500,000 a year! Would be nice, huh.

FerrariEnzo 07-19-2015 08:38 AM

Stocks.. Id use 20million and buy apple stocks... if you follow the trend/pattern and able to time it right.. can make tons...

Then put the rest in the bank and live off the interest... im sure I can get a decent amount with $35million... with the interest money, split it for expenses, kids savings etc...
