It doesn't make sense for us to desalinate ocean water when there is "fresh" water around us.

From my understanding, lawn watering permits are cancelled at Stage 3. My buddy put down new turf, got a permit and apparently, can't continue to water it.

Doesn't it say no new permits will be issued? I don't see anything about cancelling existing permits. I could be wrong though, I'd call the city and get clarification if I was him.

"All forms of watering using treated drinking water are prohibited"

I read it as including those with permits.

What happens if you water during Stage 3 watering restrictions
Water exemption permits are not issued during Stage 3 watering restrictions. Water Exemption Permits will be revoked in the event that the GVRD (Metro Vancouver) activates Stage 3 or Stage 4 of the Water Shortage Response Plan, By-law 8912. Refunds will not be issued.
If you water your lawn during the Stage 3 watering restrictions, you could be fined $250. The City actively patrols for violations.

I just got back from a short trip to the US. I asked chick at the casino, who was watering the hanging baskets on the propert, if there was a watering ban in Washington. She had no idea what banning water meant. The server at Jack in the Box in Bellingham was ust as puzzled. Sprinklers on everywhere. I guess their water shed is still unaffected.

Anyway, back to Tom Selleck......

Private and commercial outdoor impermeable surface washing (such as, driveways, sidewalks, and parkades):

Only for health and safety purposes or to prepare a surface for painting or similar treatment. Washing for aesthetic purposes is prohibited.
True story, I finished a tree fort for the kids yesterday and mounted a slide from an older playset on it. The slide is dirty. I wanted to pressure wash it for aesthetics initially, but the dust caked on it has actually made it ridiculously fast and I think cleaning it would slow it down for safety... do I risk it!?

I was also considering bucket of soapy water and hosing it off afterward but the damn slide has as much surface area as my Honda Fit so I think I'm kinda screwed until this ban lifts

We had a nematode treatment permit that's now been nullified with the bump up to stage 3. I was planning on doing the treatment tomorrow night too. There goes $60 down the drain since the store won't refund the packs for obvious reasons..

Oddly enough West Kelowna has been hit with restrictions as well, but not Kelowna. Which is good because I just finished fixing my damn sprinklers.

Car wash businesses/stations are good to go until if/when we hit stage 4 water restrictions.

Are these turf blends available at retail? Or do you need contractor access?

I got a wash in yesterday before the Stage 3 notice. I have a spray nozzle and try to rinse as little as possible when I do it anyways.
I have an underground spot where I can wash it but I'm not gonna try to sneak any, it's just not worth it, and we really have to be more aware of our water usage. It's only gonna get harder in the future.

On a similar note, has anyone installed a gray water system? I'm sure they're quite expensive to install, especially after the fact, but it really seems like they should be required in the future; we would save so much damn fresh water...

All dealerships that do complementary car washes are shut down.. Detail departments / pay per wash will continue until stage 4.

What baffles me still is the fact we still sell our water (not to nestle) and no one bats an eye....

Goes to show how a bad winter will mean a really bad summer

everyone who as worked at a dealership understands what i mean when i say that ALOT of people take realllllly shitty care of their cars and only bring it in to maintain the warranty
