Planning on doing this in a couple days, Wind is really terrible over here on the east.

When you guys say "next billing cycle" wouldn't that be the next month? I skimmed over the thread but didn't really see it. I don't want to be disconnected for too long from my number.

billing cycle is usually 5 days or something after you activate it @ koodo

please do NOT do what I failed to do! I didnt change to a manitoba number right away when I got home

DO IT RIGHT AWAY!! OR YOU WILL BE FUCKED ONE MONTH :alone:

Lol follow the steps on the HoFo exactly and you'll have no trouble.

I just got a sim card and a Manitoba #. Just signed up for self serve and it says my billing cycle is on the 28th. I'm trying to change to the $48 plan but it won't let me change to Manitoba and switches me back to BC. I used Google Chrome, IE and my mobile browser (chrome) and it switches back to BC....

Since I have a Manitoba #, I have to wait for the 1st day of the billing cycle to start in order to change the plan?

Kilinim 07-23-2016 07:57 PM

^Correct about waiting until the 1st day of the new cycle.

why is it so difficult for people to follow simple instructions?

Eh? I got my plan on the 23rd with a #204 and my billing cycle starts on the 29th. The hell....

paperclip12 07-24-2016 09:41 PM

so who wants to get the $50 refer credit? lol

Kilinim 07-24-2016 10:13 PM

In order to qualify for a referral credit, your friend must be a new Koodo customer who activated after they were sent the referral.

I mis read it as well. Completely my fault... I didn't change to a manitoba number before my new bill cycle, thus me waiting till the 15th of August to change :okay:

Since you have a manitoba # already just change the website location to Manitoba as well and port your number number into it. As long as the full name is exactly the same it should still work... That's what I did last September

vitaminG 07-25-2016 05:31 PM

somebody needs to amend the original post.

0. Learn how to read english
1. Open cheapest Koodo plan with BC number
2. Change new number to a Manitoba one via self-serve
3. Change to $48 plan on the first day of the billing cycle
4. Port number over
5. Enjoy

Shouldn't I wait till I can change my plan to the $48 before porting my number over?

CorneringArtist 07-25-2016 09:10 PM

I'll probably end up doing this in the next little bit because Rogers is upping their prices again. As it stands I'll have two BC numbers until I can port the Rogers number over, and have two ongoing phone plans? Or do I sign up for the Koodo plan then cancel the Rogers plan?

yes, sign up for the koodoo plan first. after you activate on their cheapest local plan, come home and setup your online account. from there, switch to a manitoba number. then, once your billing cycle starts you can swtich to the $48 plan. wait an additional 24hrs and port your number in using the online service, once your number is ported in your rogers account will automatically be terminated.

Seems that one guy got his plan removed. Now I'm concerned about shifting over.

How to get the $48 Manitoba plan anywhere in Canada - Page 253

Quote:

***major update***

So it finally happened, and my plan got nuked.

As you know, I was told the plan would be corrected to the $90 5GB after the end of my billing cycle.

After a quick call with Koodo, the agent said the issue was the 647 number, and I could keep the plan with a Sask #.

In preparation, I added a new line under the $30, 100MB/100Min plan. This was immediately rolled to a 306 number.

My billing cycle ended, and there ended up being no change to my original 647 plan.

A few days later, so far so good, but I'm now paying for the 2 lines. I decide to call in and cancel the 306 line (sadly, cannot do with self serve).

The agent was helpful and noted that the account was never used and was less than 15 days old. This actually entitled me to a full refund, and I was only out of pocket for the purchase of the new sim. I asked if I could re-use the sim later, and was told I had 90 days to reactivate it.

Thought I was on easy street and the emails to summarize the changes all came through. No mention of my 647.

10 minutes or so later, I get an email for account changes to my 647. It's Koodo, and they downgraded my 647 number to $30 100MB/100Min. I got a text message very shortly after confirming they downgraded me.

I immediately called back to reactivate my 306 line. Took a bit of time, but the agent was helpful to do so. I also asked at the time (as I'd lost my 5GB CW Unlimited), for her to upgrade to the $48 5GB plan. She said there'd be a $10 charge to do it, or I could do in the self serve myself. I put her on hold and tried, but of course, got the message I couldn't change the plan before the end of the billing cycle. After explaining this to the agent, she did it and waived the fee for me because I tried while she was on the line.

I then asked her to add the $3 call forwarding to the now downgraded 647 plan. This is now pointing to the 306 line, until I can port the 647 # out to an external service that will forward voice *and* sms.

Can't say for certain why my original plan wasn't changed on the day they originally said. Can't say for certain if my cancelling the 306 line may have triggered the change in the end (timing remarkably suspicious). Can't say for certain if accepting the free extra GB option put me on their radar either.

In any case, be very, very careful from here on in.

ForbiddenX 07-27-2016 12:34 PM

That's just one person out of a lot of people. Worth the risk for me since Wind is so terrible here with data.

Razor Ramon HG 07-27-2016 01:10 PM

Didn't read all, but that dude seemed to be doing a lot of changes and through customer service instead of through the self-serve portal.

If you guys just follow the instructions in the original post, it should be fine. My friend has been on it for half a year now since I helped him.

tomatogunk 07-27-2016 06:28 PM

I went over my data last month and got a text from koodo offering me an extra 750gb for $5 and an extra 1.5gb for $10. I'm on the SK/MB plan since 2014. Anyone else get this?
