Koodo $48 Manitoba/Saskatchewan Plan

http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...here-in-Canada

Unlimited Canada-wide anytime minutes
Unlimited international messaging
5GB LTE data ($10/1GB if over)
Caller ID, VM, etc

Anyone on this plan?

Just successfully switched the other day with ease.

1. Open cheapest Koodo plan with BC number
2. Change new number to a Manitoba one via self-serve
3. Change to $48 plan on the first day of the billing cycle
4. Port number over
5. Enjoy

nabs 10-17-2015 05:46 PM

Wouldn't it coat other people long distance to call you?

Never mind I missed the last part of porting number over

Razor Ramon HG 10-17-2015 05:51 PM

Yeah, apparently porting the number over allows you to keep the plan.

Reading the thread, no one has been forced to change their plans and I'm sure Koodo is more than aware of it since it was on the news a few months back.

FerrariEnzo 10-17-2015 06:12 PM

Im on the Fido version $55 since Beginning of the year.. I posted how to get it on the rogers thread

TjAlmeida 10-17-2015 07:12 PM

I'm on the koodo plan. Think it's $55 a month after tax. It's fucking great.

scoobyej20 10-18-2015 01:58 AM

sweet deal.

Jer3 10-18-2015 09:14 AM

been using it for a few months now. its pretty great for the price.

Inaii 10-18-2015 09:19 AM

How is the service level? Do you find it's spotty like Wind is around Vancouver/FV?

nabs 10-18-2015 09:43 AM

^^

Koodo is a Telus product. It runs on the Telus/Bell network.

Inaii 10-18-2015 09:48 AM

Oh awesome. I have a phone that's locked to Telus, so it should work with Koodo then. Sweet, thanks nabs :)

nabs 10-18-2015 09:50 AM

^^
Even though Koodo is owned by Telus, you may have to check the lock/unlock situation.

Similar to Fido and Rogers, the phones and sims are not interchangeable if locked.

fliptuner 10-18-2015 10:00 AM

Are these month to month or contract plans?

knight604 10-18-2015 11:35 AM

Month to month

Gucci Mane 10-18-2015 02:10 PM

I tried searching your posts but couldn't find it could you please elaborate here?

I just tried calling fido best they could offer me was

Unlimited nationwide calling
Unlimited global texting
Voicemail
Call ID
3 GB data
Spotify premium and Vice

$50/month + taxes on a month to month

Right now I got the same thing but 2 GB data and no spotify but can still accumulate fido dollars at $56 + tax month to month

Granville and W. Pender @ Trees Organic

HSPA - 5.44Mbps DL / 0.84Mbps UL / 30ms
LTE - 28.73Mbps DL / 22.67 UL / 20ms

The latency is fantastic so I generally just leave it at HSPA.

Haven't been able to figure out how to enable LTE+ on my G4 yet. Not sure if it even supports it.

fliptuner 10-18-2015 05:04 PM

I'm on the same plan as hchang. A few more months and I can lock in for another 2 years and get a subsidized phone.

At 5gb, the Koodo plan is tempting but since I never go over my 2gb, not really worth it for me.

Razor Ramon HG 10-18-2015 05:30 PM

Depends how much your plan is after your phone is "subsidized".

I'll use my friend as an example as he just resigned with Rogers.

He paid $500 for a Note 5 upfront and got a 2GB plan for $70 after talking to retentions.

Over 2 years, he ends up paying $2180 for both the phone's upfront cost and the plan.

Using Koodo as a comparison, if he bought the phone outright at $850 (which is the pricing for most carriers I believe) and brought it over there, he would've paid $2002.

Sure, it's only $178, but that's 3 months of service right there. And it's nice to not have to ever worry about going over your data if you need to. Why pay more for less?

Then again, not everyone can afford to fork out all that cash upfront for a phone, but it's always the best deal.

fliptuner 10-18-2015 05:58 PM

Whatever isn't covered by the subsidy, I can cover with fido dollars.

The lower monthly cost and more data is really tempting though.

TypeRNammer 10-18-2015 06:37 PM

The Fido Saskatchewan plan is not available to BC residents.

Fido implemented that once they detect a BC number trying to port in to a Saskatchewan, it will force you to change into a local BC plan.

Also if you have a Saskatchewan plan with a BC number and you try to call into Fido customer service, the account is subject to an immediate audit.

Razor Ramon,

Quick question, can I sign up for a prepaid plan or does it have to be monthly plan? TIA.

You might want to read the FAQ in post #1 on that HoFo link. Specifically the one titled "Do I need to have my own unlocked phone or Can I get one from Koodo on a Tab?"

Koodo's prepaid plans are different from their regular plans.

If you have a phone already and bring it to Koodo, it will be month to month, no contract or obligations.
