You've never met someone so far in denial about their automotive orientation. The clock is ticking til he realizes his one true love is a Porsche EV. He's gonna roll up to the next meet in a Taycan. |
Where the new es? Already 2026 |

I wouldn't bother with the "free SC for life" unless you don't have any possibility of charging at home and want to go do crazy road trips to absolutely milk it. At my usage of SC, last year on my CT was $289 in total. Even 10 years rounding up, it's merely 3k. When I have loaners from Tesla for services, it's free SC. The first day, the cheap ass Asian in me would be like free SC all da way. But from second day onward, it's just a hassle to always having to go to SC and I just charge at home. At the end of the day, each charge is what? $5 during off peak if you charge at home and $15 if you are at SC. Neither pays enough for me to skip the convenience of get home, plug it in and forget it. Plus, the newer Teslas (Highland Model 3 or Juniper Model Y) are so much more refined. They are quieter, more efficient and just better in about any way and shape. One possible potential I could see this, and only if you are willing to go through the hassle is the following: Tesla still offers Lifetime SC transfer from old vehicles to new one if you order new vehicle every so often. Get a vehicle with LTSC now... drive it for a while, wait until the transfer opens up again and move to a new car. |

But it's really just at 2021 era Ford EV tech now. |
all the cheap used bZ are clearly ex-uber/doordash is there a way to tell on hydro bill how much kwh went to your car without additional equip? |
Quote:
On a standard household outlet, most cars charges at 12A at 1.2-1.4kw per hour. Then you can use your $/kwh on your hydro bill to estimate how much it costs to fill the car. |

I have 2*200amp services where I separated nicely to 200amp for every my home while the remaining 200amp (separate meter) is just my EV charging and geothermal setup. Still not absolutely perfect, but basically I have a clear view on my bill how much EV+HVAC was using vs the rest of house. |
basically want to find if upgrading to faster rate to schedule charging only at off-peak rate maths out |
60's is an instant no to sedans (unless both of them are quite fit) hence why the HRV, CHR etc etc are popular. If they are ready to embrace EVs, then model Y just for the ease of entry/getting out... RWD is more than enough (the traction control is pretty decent and I assume they will just stay home if snow piles up?) If they wanna do any other brand EV, I will say we are not quite there yet with the $30K budget... Or you know... how old/new can you get with a $30K all in budget in the lexus NX/RX hybrid line up? I assume they will drive the car to the ground with no intention of getting another car for a super long long long long time I have taken my super basic base base RWD model 3 to snowboarding, it handles snow fine... but ofc I got good tires and I know momentum is key, so I try my best to never let my car stop stop... it will always be at a crawl, no matter how slow... but still moving.... Sorry for the long rant, its my 1st time on RS for 3 days LOL... just felt like typing random shit... /////////oh fuck i missed 3 pages worth of replies LOL//////////// sure bz4x or solterra will work just fine for your use case, the range sucks, but will easily go to Richmond multiple times... so as long as they charge every night... it will be fine... and just like the Model Y, it is high off the groud making entry/exit lot easier |
As hobs says, Lexus RX, but it's gonna be a pretty old rx450h for $30000 |
I think my wife’s 2018 RX is around 30k in the market. So that vintage and with roughly 120-180k of KMs |
my dad loves his ev mini and just charges it daily despite the shit range fucker runs around with a disability sign, big ass parking for his mini but he has arthritis that flares out randomly so the low height and wide ass door helps alot |

We have full 60A charging on 100A service, options we explored: - Blackbox/DCC EMS ($$$$) - Dryer plug switch ($) - Emporia charger with auto rate limiting ($$) If you already have 20A 120V service u can also easily convert to 20A 240V service if you still have breaker space |
Mercedes just put in a ton of 400kW chargers, supports both Tesla and CCS. These are the Alpitronic HYC400s, 50c/kwh 4 of these are done and 4 are pending Abbotsford – Abbotsford Power Centre Coquitlam – Sunwood Square Nanaimo – Woodgrove Shopping Centre Penticton – Penticton Lakeside Resort Pitt Meadows – Meadowvale Shopping Centre Squamish – Squamish Station Surrey – Panorama Village Tsawwassen – Tsawwassen Mills |

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...2-c445cf7d6311 ^this is a base model one *you can tell by the headlights, doesnt have the triple beam* and its going for almost 40 The only thing to watch out for is timing chain cover leaks on the earlier 2gr-fks. Some earlier years 2016/2017/2018 had these issues. Ideally, you buy the post 2020 mid-cycle refresh, where they addressed all the issues. |
