The Hitron modems are "okay" at best. If you have a better router, bridge it and you'll be aye-okay.

Thought I posted in here about Shaw 150 and what I learned through a service tech giving me a visit.
Apparently to get the full potential of 150, you need to be on 5g. 2.4g will keep you around 25-30mbps, the guy said it's because they take "6-2.4g lines and bridge them all" to create 5g. Have this problem on my laptop as it being older doesn't support the new 5g, thus I need to run a usb 5g adapter or run wired.
Did check with a speedtest, and wired I do hit 165mbps down and around 16mbps up.

My laptop wasn't capable of 5g either. So I changed out the wireless card in it to make it capable. It was super easy and cheap

So I called both Shaw and Telus for the best internet/cable package and this is what they gave me
Telus
15mb internet unlimited
you pick 8 cable packages
3 pvr's
for $80.00 month for the first 6 months and $153.00 after plus I receive a $100.00 credit on my account
Shaw
Internet 150 plus
premier tv package
3 pvr's
$99.90 a month for the first year and $141.00 a month after that.
I've always used Shaw (not under my name) so I'm not really sure about going with Telus especially since I hear it crashes a lot as well.

I ended up just cancelling my tv and signed up for internet 150 and use Kodi. Still trying to figure out Kodi as it's my first time using it.

^it depends on the area you live in and how far you are away from their demarcation boxes
for me, i've always have issues with telus internet not working or really slow. This was way back when adsl started.
shaws been good for me very little downtime except for their price increases.
Just waiting for telus to finish their fibre lines in the neighbourhood and then switch over to see how much better.

We just switched from Telus to Shaw at work and everybody in the office was doing the happy dance. Our Telus in the office was absolute trash, it was like stepping back in the time machine to 1995.
