PK's brother gets recalled so that he can keep the bench warm for WD?
If Subban is not put on the PP or even plays one shift on Friday, I can't wait to hear what kind of explanation Willie will give to reporters about why Subban isn't playing.
-probably some dumbass excuse like "Oh, I don't know his game well".
in hindsight ppl feel bad for drafting virtanen cus the ppl drafted after him are doing well. If it was the other way around, we'd be wondering why we didnt draft a BC boy and got stuck with a bust of an Ehlers

Not when most people had JV being drafted later because of his low hockey IQ.
The biggest knock on Ehlers was that he's Danish and isn't a big guy home grown BC boy
For some reason when I think if people getting pissy about our drafting Kyle Beach always comes to mind. Of course we all know what happened to CoHo who we drafted right before Beach lol.
Fucking CoHo, that was one of the last times I was so hyped and excited for one of our picks, he was fucking boss in the World Juniors and should have won MVP and in limited action he looked solid for us then of course it all went downhill from there.

Bennett is going to be a tough player to play against in the very near future. He's just going through young player problems.
As much as I hate to admit it, Calgary has a great 1-2 in Monahan and Bennett. Watching him play and you see that he is a Kesler type. He's so smart on the puck too. A few more years and he'll be wreaking havoc again on Canuck defencemen like he did with KB3 in the playoffs.
Add to that McDavid and Draisatl, and the road out of the west will run through Alberta again in short order. As a Canucks fan that kills me, but at least we get to see those superstars 12 times a year, instead of coming in once a year.

This wasn't the team's doing. He and his familiy were the cause of his own failure.

Can't think of another person that had his talent just absolutely wasted like that CoHo was supposed to be our second coming of Trevor Linden. I still remember how JT beat him out for tournament MVP and people were kind of disappointed but absolutely thrilled that it looks like we FINALLY got a stud player. Boy, how that all fell apart is just crazy
I think what made that goal extra sweet was the atmosphere of that game. That goal was shortly after Marchand submarined Salo IIRC. The animosity was real. That said, Boston still left that game with a Cup even though we won Game 8
in benning's most recent interview he said he sees 1st pairing potential in tryamkin. also says team has lots of depth on d, and if they make a trade it will be with a dman.

subban call up also a showing?
I don't think it'd be anyone in the A, plus subban's not worth much to anyone if he hasnt even been able to crack our lineup these years.
wont be Edler, cause he probably wouldn't give up his NTC
wont be Gudbranson, cause he's one of Benning's major moves
Biega's not worth anything to anyone
Larsen's not worth anything to anyone
Sbisa has to be kept for expansion purposes
That leaves Hutton, Stecher, Tanev, Tryamkin. If there was a move to make, i suspect it'd be either Hutton or Tanev to go, as they'd fetch the biggest return.
Biega has been a shitshow the last 5 games, everytime he goes to the corner to retrieve the puck I say out loud "He's going to lose it" and he always does the extra turn an the forward pins him and he turns it over... it's like clockwork with this guy. He's just not an NHL calibre defenceman.
You know who's been mostly overlooked in that 2014 draft and is starting to come into his own and has the potential to be a pretty damn good power forward?
Nick Ritchie
guy plays like a beast and is pretty unstoppable when he's on. Plus isn't shy to throw his weight around.

In the end, you need guys who have a high hockey IQ and good skillset. You see the Towes, Bergeron, Crosby, Kane, Kesler type players. You can see that Horvat has those skills. High work rate as well.
Virtanen hasn't shown that. What made him score goals in junior is that he was bigger than many and decent speed. Scored a lot of his goals from the rush. Seemingly can't replicate that against NHL defensemen.

I thought Canucks were going to draft either Virtanen, Ehlers, or Ritchie.
Ritchie had speed issues and Ehlers had size issues.
Virtanen was more of hockey IQ. Hell we didn't know his attitude to the game and work ethic was like this.
But looking back now, I remember Gillis praising Coho on his character, his attitude etc etc...fuck look at it now. haha
I dunno if everyone was at the end of their shift, but damn Cody's skating didn't look particularly stellar there. It looks like everyone was stuck in slow motion.
