There are plenty of AHL players who've scored ~0.5 ppg in their 20-year-old seasons and still turned into solid top 6 wingers in the NHL ... but Jake's hovering around 0.25 ppg at the moment.
The only current top 100 scorer (forwards) to have significantly less than 0.5 ppg in their 20-year-old AHL season is Mike Hoffman (0.34).
I'm still holding out hope that he can find himself next season. Even if he can turn into a 25 goal / 50 point second liner, I think would be great at this point.

The biggest problem for Virtanen is not his skills or skating. He has all the physical tools to be good. It's how he thinks that's the issue. Yes maybe hockey iq but hell when he made the team, he thought he made it, he thought he's the next star but he doesn't understand that you have to work your ass off to be better player everyday. Instead, he goes to disneyland. lol
One of the biggest knocks on Virtanen and one of the main reasons Button rated him so lowly was the fact that he has a very low hockey IQ. He's basically a big high school jock bullying around the nerds during his CHL career.
is it just me or does Stecher kinda talk and sound like Bieksa?
lol there was also that video where they clocked Brock saying "you know" 45 times in his interview
hopefully he scores as much as "you know" next season.

The Canucks PR guys will get him some training. They'll replace the "you know"s with some old fashioned "and uhhhhh"s
When Willie and JB first climbed on board the Canucks train there were more "real good" and "like"s coming out of their mouths than grains of sand on a beach. They've toned it down but you can tell they're trying to pick their words more carefully sometimes.
i'm contemplating picking it up...but i get the sense that it'll probably drop to sub $9.99 fairly quickly

Weak or not a goal is a goal. If any of the last 3 games have proven, it's that he's willing and ready to shoot. God bless the Sedins but it's nice to finally have someone who is selfish and shoots.
