Where are we on number contracts? If we are close to the max probably why we aren't picking up from waivers.

stecher and tryamkin were good tonight! Stecher shoots a lot and gets it on net way better then larsen. As for the big russian he is very physical which i like and he smashed jamie benn behind the net. Still wondering what guddy is doing right now because he isnt doing much and isnt very physical. I thought he was suppose to be the mean stay at home dman...

The thing I love about Stetcher is his hockey smarts that go along with his hockey skills when it comes to the offense. Edler, Tanev, Sbisa, Guddy, Larsen. All they know how to do is shoot from the point or make straight line passes.
Stetcher does the same thing but adds that little extra move which seperates him from the rest.
Just that little move to the left tricked Benn to turn towards the middle of the ice.
Then bouncing the puck off the boards back to himself to make space to take the slapper.
It's like watching some of Datsyuk's moves.
*Edit*
I forgot to add, how he showed so much confidence in faking the slap shot and then taking it. It is these little things that help him put the puck on net as opposed to the others that keep getting their shots blocked.

Tanev is the closest similarity to Stecher in terms of smarts but Stecher still has more of a knack for offence than Tanev
Honestly, with the way Tryamkin has been playing lately, that whole "he was out of shape and we're putting him on a training regime until we think he's NHL ready" makes the Canucks look like a bunch of fucking morons. He's easily a top 4 dman right now and has been the best defensive Canuck so far. Imagine if they'd just let him play from the get go.
I'd argue he's even more physical and more steady than Gudbransen. Hutton seems like he's struggling with him and there isn't much chemistry.

I loved the hit on Jamie Benn. Shows just how much strength he has.
As for Guddy, I agree. He isn't impressing me that much.
As for Hutton, he is making a lot of mistakes. I wouldn't call it sophmore blues, but he is taking some bad chances and getting beat. Guess it wasn't so appearent last year when he was playing with Hammer.

I know you guys are gushing dicks right now because the Canucks won a game at home but they're still sitting on 26th place with an abysmal 6-9-1 record. They're still only scoring an average of 2.06 goals per game, while giving up an average of 3 goals per game.
This is not a winning team. There was talk that Linden was going to step down, but he shot it down quickly. That said, a rumor is a rumor for a reason. We've all heard it before when a guy denies that he wants to move on, until he moves on.

We are talking about the same personnel that insists Philip Larsen is an NHL player after all. The same personnel that seems to think Eriksson-Sedins PP isn't good enough for them when it's good enough for a National Team.
Sure, throwing him in for a couple of games to get mins in the minors and then bringing him back so he can sit and watch Skille play. "Player Development"
I get it, you gotta earn chances. But with a player like that you either stick him in a top 6 role in the minors to grow or you let him make the mistakes getting decent minutes and decent offensive role in the bigs.
The "Bo Horvat" treatment doesn't work for everyone.

He takes his game very seriously, much like Linden when he was the same age.
People said his skating was his weak spot, he worked on it all summer and is one of the top skaters on the team.
His strength, grit, and tenacity is unreal.
The nucks did the same thing to CoHo and we saw how that ended up.

Tryamkin wasn't ready in the preseason. I thought Pedan would make it over him and Laresen. I'm glad his "practice" helped so far.
The Bo Horvat treatment is what professional hockey is. You don't just get a spot because you're a high draft pick or top prospect.
You play hard and make the team. Take advantage of the time you get and play your best. Horvat did it when Sutter went down. Hutton did it when Edler went down.
As a young player, you just gotta take advantage of every shift you get and play your hardest. JV has yet to do that. I don't know if it's a confidence thing, coach-player thing, partying thing, or just he doesn't want to put that work in.

The rumour is he's more interested in the fun aspect of being an NHL player.
The way forward is so goddamned simple. Send the kid to Utica. There's absolutely no benefit to him sitting around and being lazy when he's in. It's so fucking frustrating watching the franchise chew up another prospect when the solution is right there.
The Bo Horvat treatment I was alluding to was Willie's measured minutes (7-10) and limited o-zone starts to a kid they're trying to break into the league.
