the most important thing is how Jimdim will draft in the later rounds, if they were to pick a D the first round I would be ok with that since Dmen are more important and we do need a PP QB which we don't have at all.

Top 3 pick Patrick, Hischier, and Vilardi?
Maybe Benning finally understands how this market works.
Last year, did nothing at trade deadline. Hamhuis /Vrbata for nothing
Draft - I think it was Linden, oh we haven't drafted a dman for years...drafts a dman...(prob because they didn't expect CBJ to draft dubois).
This year- trades Burr and Hansen
Draft - We might draft a dman....if I'm correct, he's trolling and going to draft centre.
Hell! he might be santa and fire Willie for all of us fans!

Willie better be fucking done after this season. From the comments posted lately (re: Linden tell him to play the kids (again)), it seems like there's a rift between what management wants and what WD is doing. Hopefully that leads to his termination.

Hopefully that leads to his termination. | He sounds like a man who has been told that he's not being retained for next year already. 1040 ran parallels between WD's comments lately and those of Torts in 2014. Remember Tort's partings words for the Vancouver Canucks? Something along the lines of "this core is stale".
While I question WD's decisions with the rest of you, people have to realize that he's coaching for himself at this point. That report saying he's had teams inquire about his services (granted in what capacity who knows) isn't a fluke.
In a trying season, he's had a team that has mostly played hard for him. If the players wanted him out they would've shit the bed a lot earlier in the season a la Montreal. A coach's job is to prepare the team as best as possible and to win. Of course he doesn't want to gift ice time to kids because he knows it will signal to everyone in the league that they've given up with 10 games left in the season. Gifting ice time worked well for Virtanen and Mccann right?
Yes, WD and the team tanking is something we as a fanbase are clamouring for but I suspect the coach and players don't want to mail it in for the most part. Again, you don't have to look much further than Edmonton pre-Connor to see how that screwed up the development of their young guys (Dubnyk, Schultz and Eberle come to mind). As bad as the Sedins and WD are this season, they're teaching the young players on the team who will be taking over in the next few seasons that they are and need to be accountable for their play and actions. That's more valuable than teaching them to give up the second they're out of the playoffs.

So JBs interview last week about the draft was kind of surprising. In that we already drafted jueolevi in the top5 but JB was saying if there was a legitimate pp quarterback they would really look at it. If we draft another dman in the top 5 two years in a row my head will explode. If the dman is not a doughty/ekblad type of stud there is noway we should draft that early. | I'd be more than happy if the Canucks end up with Timothy Liljegren. Here are some quotes from the Bobfather and Craig Button
via TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Quote:
“Scouts say his offensive game is far more developed than his defensive game. He is an elite skater, both in terms of speed and agility, and adept at running a power play. He is seen as both a puck mover and an offensive point producer. No one is suggesting he’s the next Erik Karlsson, not by any means, but scouts say he has some of the same qualities and, therefore, has the potential to be projected as a possible top pairing defenceman in time.”
| via TSN’s Craig Button, Quote:
“Very gifted skater who uses his feet to his advantage defensively and in transition. Smart, poised, anticipates the play, sees where to exploit opponents and can dictate play in all areas. Excellent in the defensive zone because he beats pressure, fends it off and the puck gets moving ahead quickly. Has a command of the game and he finds a way to be a contributor at critical times.”

| NHL Lottery Simulator
not that good tbh
no one's beating the Avs
best the Canucks can finish is 29th but realistically will probably finish 25th-28th
which would give em similar chances as last year
factor in the Canucks luck and don't be too surprised when they end up picking outside of the top 5 or 5th again

Also, how can Liljegren be projected as a Victor Hedman if he is only 5'11"?
I remember when scouts were glowing about Erik Gudbranson and Griffen Reinhart as well. Aside from the Crosby and McDavids and Matthews and Laines, it is very hard to predict a players future output.

it's a fair enough system imo
Canucks just can't catch a break ever.

I don't care how talented you are. If you don't put the work into it and train as a professional, you're going to be left behind. Look at how bo put in the work.

From all indications from scouts and other pro personnel, this years draft is the weakest since the Yakupov/Murray one for high end talent. Patrick would rank behind McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, Laine, Ekblad and MacKinnon.
I've seen Patrick's high end potential compared to Jeff Carter and Patrick Marleau but who knows, this years draft is a crap shoot it seems.
