with pre-orders nowadays that's not going to be as big of an issue
especially if it's launching in the spring and not holiday season

SkinnyPupp 01-13-2017 01:03 AM

You guys are talking like $400 CAD is an acceptable price :fuckthatshit:

Wii was $275 and Wii U was $300 at launch. But back then, our dollar was at par. If you take that into account, it's about the same.

But you're right, $400 is pretty rough in the pocket when compared to other consoles. The XBOX One S was $300 and the PS4 was $330 during Black Friday.

SkinnyPupp 01-13-2017 01:35 AM

Wii U was a total failure. I don't like thinking in CAD, but this is a Canadian site so I used that. Using USD $300 is still very high for a 720P console, even if it has portability. 2.5 hour battery life really limits that portability, and there are maybe 2 good looking games for it. After that, how many will there be? Enough to justify a $300 console? Maybe if you already have one of the other consoles, but even then. $300 man that's crazy

twitchyzero 01-13-2017 05:44 AM

i dont think Nintendo has been about value for hardware specs for a while now

if this had better battery life and the latest nvidia GPU I think it could replace DS...but from the looks of it'll only do slightly better than Wii U and might just be Nintendo's last home console. The 30+ demographic can only play Mario and Zelda so many times and the nostalgia will run out. Most kids would rather play Madden and Call of Duty on a Microsoft/Sony.

will Zelda run better on Switch docked vs Wii U?

MarkyMark 01-13-2017 06:20 AM

I'm really hoping for the day Nintendo just admits defeat in the home console market and just starts making games for the PlayStation and Xbox lol. I'm so tired of having to buy their system to play like 5 games every generation.

I would imagine a Mario platformer and Zelda game would sell extremely well on the PlayStation.

Mr.Money 01-13-2017 07:57 AM

so no one here scored there pre-order?...one decent game on launch ....Zelda...and also releasing on Wii U...
i might just wait till a mario game comes then buy it....

Woke up half-awake at 5:50, said fuck it, and went back to bed.

Manic! 01-13-2017 10:17 AM

Just got a pre order from bestbuy.ca Nintendo Switch Console with Grey Joy-Con : Nintendo Switch Consoles - Best Buy Canada

Now I wonder what I will be able to get first the Switch or the NES Classic mini.

Edit: Just pre ordered the Neon version from Amazon.

Presto 01-13-2017 10:47 AM

Still pre-order stock at Best Buy.
When I saw the final price in the cart, $450 (no games!), I closed the window. I'll wait for a price drop.

Look what happened to Sega. Nintendo is the only company that is innovating.

Except they don't seem to realize what the market wants. The NX is cool and all, but unless they can get great third party support it'll be another flop after the initial hype dies down. Especially at that price. The battery life is poor enough that people will probably not even use the feature after a few plays, so it's just another Nintendo console with a few great first party games and nothing else.

Manic! 01-13-2017 12:22 PM

The Switch charges by USB C so you will be able to use the same external battery pack that you use to charge your phone. So battery life should not be a problem.

Spoon 01-13-2017 12:30 PM

In 20 years when they release the retro version, y'all gonna be like OMG must have. :mamoru:

MarkyMark 01-13-2017 12:31 PM

You'll need a pretty big external battery pack to power that thing for a couple hours, kinda takes the whole portability aspect away when you're hauling extra gear to keep it juiced up.

murd0c 01-13-2017 01:11 PM

I'm tempted to get the switch since it's way better for playing games compared to my cell when taking a shit.

Nintendo clams 2.5 to 6 hours depending on the game played. Do you know the size of the internal battery?

DHP 1 01-13-2017 01:15 PM

damn it, i missed the pre - order

:(

That's a pretty big variance, and if they are saying it's as low as 2.5 then you can bet it's probably even worse than that. Plus the performance isn't as good when it's not docked either so it's crap battery life with inferior performance.

It'll be a good choice for guys like Murdoc because there will be just enough power for you to take a shit before it needs to be charged again.

I would thing the opposite. Depending on screen brightness and vole you should be able to get more than 2.5 hours. Still no word on the battery size. If it's a similar size to a cellphone a 10000 mah batter back will be able to charge it around 3 times. Giving you around 10 hours of battery life.

Yeah I don't want to play with a battery pack attached to it thats the point. I don't even like attaching one to my phone while I use it.

How many hours a day do you expect to play?

Mr.Money 01-13-2017 03:00 PM

wouldn't worry about not getting the pre-order....in-store stock on march 3 might be massive,if nintendo didn't learn from the nes classic of selling out for months they would be smart to sell sell sell.

if you already own a wii u and the new zelda game is coming out,$450 for one game alone is a little crazy....so many kids out there dont even care about mario anymore since wii u was a flop..its all about call of duty and bf 1 now.

Nintendo is smart driving up demand by not having enough supply. Ever consider Nintendo wants to do this for control?

Remember, the Statue of Liberty, one of the most renown landmark monuments in he world was once portrayed to be controlled by an NES advantage. Nintendo ruled the fuckin' world.

Nintendo is controlling the world #CiC4prez #tinfoilhat
