Nintendo Switch (NX)

Nintendo's new hybrid console. I really like the concept, if I can play the same quality games as the other consoles on the go it'd be something I'd get.

Trailer looks like it was filmed in Vancouver:

If it's backwards compatible I am 100% down

If not.... I dunno

I would doubt it unless you could download them? Looks like you load it up via cartridges.

I just hope 3rd party support continue past the first few years. Portable Skyrim and 2k in the demo.

i'm down

looks pretty interesting and i'm glad to see the innovation and creativity from Nintendo

Wii U games aren't downloadable?

MarkyMark 10-20-2016 08:14 AM

I could get on board with this depending on the price.

yea :P not exactly sure what I was thinking. But i'm wondering what the architecture will be like?

Kind of a double edged sword, similar to the PS4/Xboxone architecture and you might lose backwards compatibility, but it makes it easier on 3rd party devs.

All they have to really do is update their Virtual Consoles and should be able to run the older games. Not sure about the Wii U.

MarkyMark 10-20-2016 08:26 AM

The new Mario game looks like a proper 3D platformer instead of the shitty 3D World we got on the Wii U.

I have high hopes that there will be BC. Nintendo is king of BC. However, at 1:06 in the video, there's a pretty good view of the game card slot. It looks smaller than a 3DS/DS card. Perhaps, there'll be a 2nd slot for 3DS/DS, like the GBA/GB slot in the DS-Lite?

twitchyzero 10-20-2016 10:19 AM

yeah but can I pirate? :derp:
do all the new DS take proprietary cards that have adapters for SD memory card?

https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/1...ntendo-switch/

wishful thinking but probably not Pascal hardware.

anyone wanna guess the price?

filming location looks like West 4th as well as TBC in the video.

6o4__boi 10-20-2016 10:23 AM

i think someone confirmed it was TBC

i haven't pirated nintendo games since the last DS lol

twitchyzero 10-20-2016 10:36 AM

i'm going to predict the whole portability brings nothing new to the table for most

most are perfectly happy with gaming on the phone/tablet or they'll just buy a DS

so if there's not significantly better 3rd party games then this will be not much different than the WiiU in terms of sales

Manic! 10-20-2016 10:37 AM

It looks pretty slick. If it could play back video from something like a USB stick or SD card it would be killer.

Presto 10-20-2016 10:38 AM

The homebrew scene will probably crack the Switch in a few years. Probably 4 or 5 years before a relatively easy process to crack is discovered. It was only recently that the process for cracking the Wii U and 3DS has become streamlined.

I like the idea of having home console quality games on the go. I hate mobile games because touch screen controls suck, and the DS doesn't have home console graphics.

That being said, I don't see this winning over people who do enjoy mobile phone games, and who knows if this 3rd party support will stick around if sales are slow out of the gate.

The majority of tablet users probably just use it for surfing the net, and consuming media. Potentially, their next tablet could be the Switch. It'll cost less than an iPad.

MarkyMark 10-20-2016 01:12 PM

Assuming that the Switch is a tablet and has tablet functions as well.

:ifyouknow:

:heckno:
remind me not to touch any guy's switch console/controller if it does turn out to have "tablet" capabilities.

twitchyzero 10-20-2016 01:32 PM

the only tablet I own is a windows 10 one...not a fan of it good thing I can use it in laptop mode.
doubt i'll like whatever Nintendo can put out as a tablet.

Skyrim demo on a 2017 console? C'mon it's a game going on 6 years :denied:
Show us the new Red Dead Redemption in 4K :troll:

Great68 10-20-2016 01:38 PM

Neat idea.

Had to laugh at the I have yet to laugh at the rooftop party scene.
I have yet to attend a summer backyard bbq party where everyone's like "Shit, you know what this party's needs? Video Games!"

Spoon 10-20-2016 02:10 PM

IMO, I wouldn't market the switch as a new gaming console. It's more of a new platform since it blurs the line between a home and mobile console.

With the limitations of the tablet device, now they have an excuse for their lagging technology. :troll:

parts of the trailer are definitely Vancouver. that go-kart place I'm 99% sure it's TBC.

I wonder how the battery life is going to be like?
