Spotify is free for anyone.
Spotify Premium is what's included with Fido Pulse plans (value of $10/month)

With Premium, you can listen to songs offline.

I heard Metrotown line up was to the outside of Mcd entrance...

Expires 21th midnight
Dont go to fido store in a mall or call/chat fido. At least couple of hours wait time.
Go to bestbuy, LD or anywhere.
I went to small Fido store in Vancouver and was in and out under 20min.

Ppl will be in shock when they found out they have to be off a contract lol. I was thinking of switching but I got a sweat deal off my Samsung S7 edge with fido which works out better for me.

Chromecast 2 worth it for $35?

Thinking of putting it in one of my spare bedroom's dumb TV
Problem is, that bedroom gets spotty WiFi as its the furthest room from the router.

lol good luck with that, its sold out everywhere and in demand

I think signal congestion rather than range was an issue for Chromecast version 1. Version 2 offers 5ghz which might be an improvement, especially if you live in a condo or multi-family environment.

Bestbuy, I got an email this morning

I think you need to use this code for Nov 21-23 for the $10 off to make it $35

Spoiler!

5Ghz would give you greater bandwidth but less range. If the signal is spotty as is (and assuming it's on 2.4Ghz), it'll probably be worse with the 5Ghz. Maybe consider some sort of Wifi extender to increase your range (however this does cut into your bandwidth) or if you actually have a ethernet port in the same room, then maybe this for the CC:

not worth it imo.

I have V2 and it's hooked to my main living room TV, streaming from my office which is about 30 feet to the TV as the crow flies through a hollow wall

used to try and use it to stream NHL games before i got cable back, quality was always garbage and the signal super sketchy.

The modem was in the same room as the chromecast as well, so if it was getting fed from PC-Modem-Chromecast, thats an even greater enditement to the product. imo not worth it unless it's in the same room

6o4__boi 11-21-2016 09:45 AM

hmmm...i just read a thread about SN Now

Didn't even know this existed. I might just buy one to try it out on my main living room TV which is right beside the router.

Then maybe I can cut cable. :awwyeah:

If you're looking to go play with home automation and you're willing to head down south, Best Buy has the SmartThings hub for $50 (USD) which is probably the lowest price it's been so far. There's rumours of a new hub coming out soon though so keep that in mind.

Samsung SmartThings Hub White F-H-ETH-001 - Best Buy

You can get pretty cheap ZWave sensors at Monoprice and eBay that work with ST. Also, since it's an open standard, there's a ton of support and independent developers creating some pretty neat stuff for it.

Verdasco 11-21-2016 10:32 AM

lol... people can do koodo for $48 for 5gb the past couple years and now people line up for $40 4gb? smh.....

If you're using the garbage stock Shaw/Telus combo units, get a separate modem and a good router. It helps a lot with the Chromecast, especially if you get a unit that has good MIMO.

I had an ASUS RT-N66, and I got good signal going through ~30ft of wall, floor and another wall as the Chromecast was in the diagonal opposite end of the house from my router.

Someone on here was looking for cookware on sale. Ming Wo is having a Black Friday 25% off regular price sale for three days Friday thru Sunday. I imagine regular prices at Ming Wo is on the high side, but a sale is a sale, LOL.

I'm always looking for a good cutting board.

Be careful, they tend to disconnect when they call you back.
