This story reminds me of one Halloween, way way back when we were kids. About Twelve or thirteen. A friend of mine decided to dress up like an East Indian. Wore a pair of light blue pyjamas. He even took out a book from the library to learn how to tie the turban. It was freaking stellar.
Would that be considered racist?
What if I said he was Vietnamese and not white?
I'm part Italian, part Ukrainian. If someone, anyone, came to my door in a Guido costume, or some Soviet type costume, I'd laugh my ass off and probably double up on their candy

Oh FFS, the sign doesn't say 'it's better to be white', it says 'it's ok to be white'. Huge difference in word usage.
Criticizing an entire group of people based on the colour of their skin = Racism
Nobody chooses the race they're born into so how dare anyone criticize anyone else based on a physical attribute? But I guess when you're a race baiting minority, you bypass those rules?
It's almost like the word offensive has been removed from the dictionary and replaced with the word racism.
Interesting thing about offense. It can only be taken, not given

I'm struggling to understand the logic here, how the hell is "it's okay to be white" racist? It's okay to be whatever the hell you happen to be, isn't that the point? Would anyone be mad if it said anything other than white?

Add in some Slovenian and Irish, and you and I could be brothers.
that is exactly the problem that our society is facing right now.
one side is pushing SO HARD, that the other side has to be defensive. and them being defensive is considered offensive and is fuel for the first side. and back and forth it goes.
lets take a step back and look at that for what it is.
1. in the last 2-3 years there has been a huge push towards acceptance, which has gone beyond acceptance, and has moved into everything that isnt pro is actually offensive/racist. to the point where some white people may actually feel they are being looked down upon because of some perceived 'white priviledge'
2. someone writes a simple piece of paper that says "its okay to be white" meaning "hey, if you're white, you're equal too". it could not be more non-racist.
3. the first side somehow takes that as an attack by white supremacists. everyone is so badly wanting to be offended, they will interpret something any way they have to, to be empowered to be angry.
what happens next? the white side feels attacked even further and has to find other ways to stand up for themselves.
Add in some Slovenian and Irish, and you and I could be brothers.
Naaa mum's Hungarian broooo.

Mang, where's that asteroid when you need it?
I think the location gave more of a context than the words. Maybe I'm wrong.
TBH, I think the sign is retarded. In the same way I think focusing on minorities/specific races is retarded.
Generally speaking, there are a lot of white people who have this incessant fear of being labeled racist. And many minorities have an incessant fear of being labeled inferior.
Liberalism attempts to compensate for both.
Of course, legislating the way people are supposed to feel towards each other doesn't usually have the desired effect.
I think this guy actually has a healthy view on racism:

"B.C.'s attorney general says the appearance of discriminatory posters at the University of Victoria campus are reminders of the need to fight racism in its overt and subtle forms. David Eby says racism and discrimination can be overt in the presence of hate-filled posters, flyers and public protests, but there are also subtle forms where people are denied opportunities due to their ethnicity or economic standing. He denounced the recent appearance of posters on university bulletin boards that called for a fight against "anti-white hatred," saying they are reminders of the work that must be done to identify and prevent racism."
so "Stand up and march against white supremacy" is empowering and encouraged. but "Stand up and fight against anti-white hatred" is racist and displaying white supremacy
How about fuck off and we stop putting eachother into teams so we can have an enemy, and we all just try to be people?

Can't because sanctimony

But why would the Jews specifically target the white race?

if you're wondering whether or not the signs are right or wrong, consider what the opposite of the sign would say.
"Its NOT okay to be white"
is that correct?
how about swapping 'white' for something else like 'black' or 'a woman' or 'a minority' or 'gay'. would those signs be okay to post?
it literally just says "it is okay to be white" it does not say 'it is superior to be white". it does not say "white people are racist" or even "white people are the subject of reverse racism"
I'm half white myself, and frankly I don't understand this recent "woe is me" pertaining to people who are Caucasian.
It's kind of laughable to be honest, since when have white people been suddenly subjugated?
-7 in 10 corporate CEO's on the Fortune 500 are white.
-72% of senior management in the corporate world is white.
-In policing, in judicial law, the same.
-There is a racist white guy in the White House as President.
If you look at government, both in Canada and America, it's a sea of white faces, the same in every Western democracy.
Here in BC I attend quite a few association conferences with people of power, both in the private sector, and government. What is the prevailing color of face I see at any of these functions, these people that are the power brokers here in BC? White folks.
I'm not arguing if this is right or wrong, because this post isn't about that. The truth is though, nothing has changed, this whole alt-right movement to protect the white man is a farce. It reminds me of us guys who are now coming forward complaining about how women are "taking over", and it's suddenly a detriment to be a man.
Give me a break. It's funny when the rules of the game start to slightly tip to the other side, we suddenly have this crisis, an attack on the white man.
Listen, we men will still continue to run the world, and white men will keep winning.
It's okay to be white, just like it's okay to be any race. But enough of this bullshit trying to pretend like there is some kind of attack on the white race, it's a load of hyperbole that is breeding a movement that I think is quite dangerous.
I think it's fairly obvious that whites are not entitled to the same freedoms of expression. But this is to offset the fact that whites make up the majority of population, media, and positions of power.
an attempt to form/force an egalitarian society.
This is one reason I can not support a progressive ideology. All that talk about equality, but it's quite the opposite.

There's still a vast majority of "white" (in quotations because some data miners lump "other" in with the caucasian category) in Canada, so that's why there's still a large amount of white people in positions of power. It just comes down to the ratio available to companies/governments in the area.
I think what people are taking issue with, and it's something I've come across in the past, are that there are jobs and positions up for grabs where they explicitly state that "People of colour, visible minorities, aboriginals, disabled, and females will be considered before all other applicants," or some similar type of statement. I know they're trying to encourage people to apply when they may have thought they wouldn't have a chance in hell, but all it says to me is that they wont consider a white male regardless of experience or qualifications. It seems like a lot of companies out there, especially ones who have a very public image, are intentionally trying to create as diverse of a workforce as possible regardless of if the demographics in that area can support it. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no issue with companies hiring people of any colour or creed or gender. Where there's a problem is passing over other qualified applicants because they need to find that disabled gender-neutral aboriginal who was adopted by a Chinese and African couple while living on wellfare, just so they can say they have a full gamut of diversity on their team.
The other issue I see people having is racism. If a white guy is subjected to racism comments or attacks, it's seen as "well, his ancestors did it so why should this guy complain? He had it coming, after all." It's not taken seriously and is usually brushed aside as finally getting to see the other side of the coin.
