The casino is in touch with the security guard which to me indicates that they're trying to control what he says in fear of lawsuits. I bet they've also come to some sort of financial agreement.
In a recording of his appearance on “Ellen” obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Campos, who said he was “doing better each day, slowly but surely,” confirmed he had called in when he was shot — before the full rampage began. But he gave few other details that would answer nagging questions about the response of hotel security and Las Vegas police.
Appearing in a gray suit and with a cane, Campos said he got an alert for an open door on the 32nd floor. He went up a stairwell from the 31st to the 32nd floor, but the stairwell door was blocked — apparently by the gunman — so he had to take another route to get to the floor.
Police and casino officials have said that Campos promptly reported the gunman to hotel security and that police officers and armed security responded immediately to the 32nd floor, where Paddock had a suite.
But the first officers to get to the floor arrived 12 minutes after Paddock had launched his assault on the crowd — and two minutes after he had stopped shooting — raising questions about how quickly the hotel had informed officers on the scene about Campos’ report.

I'm pretty sure my grandparents wouldn't have crossed the ocean at the age of 14 and 8 respectively, if not for the Nazis. Coming to frigid Canada, poorer than I could ever imagine. They actually knew what it felt like to starve. They struggled more than anyone I know not because they wanted to, but because it was a better option.

It's no secret on here that both sides of my family were on both sides of WW2. Dad's side were Austrian Jews. His parents managed to escape persecution and ended up in NY, but quite a few of my other family members were caught and executed in some of the concentration camps. Their names are engraved in one of the memorials in Austria. As well, my mom's family is German and her dad, a doctor, was conscripted into the Nazi army, eventually into the North Afrikan Korps under General Rommel. The stories he told of the sights he saw haunted him right to his death bed. So, my knowledge of the subject -- apart from the "written by the victors" history books -- stems from first hand accounts of what went on. If it was indeed something that didn't happen, how did two groups of families who never knew one another until the 80's (and were on opposite sides of the war to boot), happen to have the same knowledge of an event that this guy is saying never occurred?
Sure, there may be back door deals going on, or schoolboy friends may end up on opposite sides of the war that result in espionage or secret financial deals... but that has nothing to do with the fact that the Holocaust undeniably happened. So for someone to say that it's a hoax or a fabrication of Western media and didn't actually happen, yet start spewing bullshit about other conspiracies, they have absolutely zero credibility or a leg to stand on while arguing.

It really does put things into perspective. That said, I will never know the struggles that they had. If I’m lucky....
I remind my kids often that they’re 3 out of billions that were fortunate enough to be born in BC, to a hard working family, and in a place that allows them opportunities.
It truly is a parents moral obligation to teach these sort of things.

It really does make you realize that the every day issues we tend to have nowadays are quite trivial in the grand scheme of things. This morning I was angry because a slider pin in one of my calipers is stuck and I wont have time for a couple weeks to fix it. But it suddenly doesn't really seem like much of even a trivial issue when I think back on my grandparents and what they went through during the war.

I refuse to get involved in social media because I find nothing inspirational in it. An otherwise excellent platform with lots of potential but is used to further narcissism and self-centred egoism of newfound territory. The psychologists from 90 years ago would have a field day with this shit.

Honestly man, there are so many others who work harder for their money. RRxtar got me thinking about things..... I would be ignorant if I didn't admit that I was blessed with certain natural talents, along with opportunities that many don't have. I have a buddy who's dad left when he was 6 years old. At 8 the kid was riding the bus in downtown Toronto. He's built up a nice life for himself with a wife, kids, a home and a business. Compare him with some poor bastard born with Aids in Ethiopia, and he is blessed in comparison.
That said, I wouldn't turn down a Bugatti if my wealthy father offered it to me. Hell, I wouldn't turn down a new Tundra. But neither of those are on the table right now.

You have to admit, the concept of white privilege has changed. Maybe in a melting pot like the US, but in Canada you're as likely to see a naturalized citizen in a position of power as you are a caucasian. Terms like white privilege should be deemed prejudice, and no longer used.
Also, I support your choice of gender, regardless of what it is.
