iirc you mentioned something way back in a thread. | Yes we do and that's why I know the credit card and land cost excuse is B.S. CC costs are not that much it's around 1.7 percent. As for land costs Esso, Shell, Chevron, Husky have all sold their gas stations so they are not paying for land.

Seriously though... after driving my buddy's Tesla for a while when he borrowed my DD for a last minute trans-con drive, I'm a believer of EV.
EV has come a long way. It's more refined to a point that ICE no longer holds any advantage anymore.
Only reason I can think of is long road trip, but that'd be a rental whenever needed.

^NO, EV's are evil. They're bad. They will suck the life from you and spit concentrated jalapeño juice into your soul.
Just what we need.......... line ups at the charging stations, lol. Every time I go to my secret charging location, there are no line ups. The other day, I had to wait ten minutes.
Funny thing is, I used to see Teslas charging at the Superstore DC Fast Charge stations. If I saw one, I would just drive by and not even wait, because those cars are EV hogs. They'd be there for an hour. I don't think I've seen one in the past three or four months, maybe more They're finally installing Tesla Superchargers in and around Vancouver (22 Pacific Centre. 12 Guilford, 12 Tsawwassen, with at least three more sites coming in the next few months). I guess that's where they're all going? Tesla Superchargers are amazingly fast. Nowadays, all I see are fricken Outlander PHEV's driven by frugal asians. I mean they're flocking to the chargers like buzzards to a dead cow. These are plug-in hybrids that go only 40 km on battery before they switch to gas. Well, that means drivers will take full advantage of charging wherever and whenever they can. At Grand Villa Casino, there are times where Outlanders are taking up all four charging stations. To the point I don't even bother going there to charge. They are there for three to five hours at a time. Some of them charge there and take the free shuttle bus to Metro or Brentwood or go to work (not at casino or hotel).
Anyway, I have a level two charger at home and my two secret charging locations, so I'm all good.

Well whatever, 40 years then hahah. I'm just saying spending 150k in an excuse to save gas isnt defensible. Better to keep your existing cars if you wanna save money.

It's not about saving money. It's about saving this planet.
Collecting pop cans and beer bottles used to be for poor folk, bag ladies, and the homeless. Now it's cool to recycle, because we're all doing our part to save the planet.
The only thing that'll save this planet is WWIII.

No man!!! Fuck recycle!!!! I got garbage Nazis patrolling Richmond digging through my trash trying to see if I threw out food scraps and papers. Fuckkkkk thaaatttt, why do I pay my taxes if I have to do all this garbage work. If they wanted more recycling done then they should hire people to sort all that shit just like in Japan. Job creation and protect the planet at the same time !!!

C'mon............. it's Richmond. Nuff said.
If people were more diligent with what they throw out, there would be no need for policing the garbage being thrown out.
I go to the Burnaby Still Creek recycling depot on a regular basis. You should see what people try to get away with. I have dash cam footage of these people looking around to see if anyone is watching and then throw illegal materials into the bins when the coast is clear (semi-pun intended). When busted, it's, "Solly, solly..........." Most people back into the stalls, I park front first. Evidence needed sometimes. Like the asshole who knowingly put gyproc into the styrofoam bin.
These are little things, but they all add up. In this country, we all try to get along and respect one another. If you came from a dog eat dog, country where nobody cares if a child gets run over and left for dead, where the water and air is so polluted your health is at risk, try to keep this country clean. Isn't that why you're here in the first place? To escape that shit? /rant.
I need to take a break.........

This is assuming people would care enough to participate. It's not hard, man. It takes very little time and it's good to be a little more organized in your day to day routine. Try it............
While I'm at it, your tax dollars are mostly spent on healthcare. You know............. twice as many healthcare cards than there are residents. Fraud. Taking advantage of free healthcare. wAnder why it takes so long to see a doctor at a hospital emergency ward? Half those people in front of you aren't supposed to be there.
Another example. Come to Canada and have your baby, it's free........... https://globalnews.ca/news/4411137/b...ourism-canada/

All the apartment dwellers that have to take their organic garbage down for composting is just for isreal and empire building to make a profit.
The reason gas prices are high is to keep people poor so they can be keep being exploited to work long 8 hour days for years on end.

The problem is they refuse to hire additional people to process all this crap but enacted all this recycling regulations. In Richmond for example they just gave a bunch of city manager's a boat load more money https://www.richmond-news.com/news/o...ies-1.23877575
And spend fucking tax dollars auditing the trash instead of hiring people to process it. |

Not to mention recycling some items make no sense but people are so caught up in it. Recycling paper and plastic bottles spit out more CO2 than making new.
Growing trees for paper will suck CO2 for years/decades. Sending trucks out to pick up paper and running machinery to turn it into recycled paper will do nothing but output CO2. Trees are a cash crop, if people are recycling paper it'll reduce demand for the forestry industry to plant trees for harvesting.

yeah because making NEW paper/plastics doesn't cost any CO2 either
trucks would have to come pick up the same tonnage of waste either way, what's lost is time in sorting

tar sands are also a cash crop, if people go EV with hydro sources it'll reduce demand for Alberta's energy sector
one should also start littering in the streets, keeps the volunteers busy and also and start violent crimes, as it ensures the police have their hours, oh wait this forum is already doing a good job of keeping the police in check with car mods |

I failed ya Hobz because I give all my friends shit who don’t recycle or use their organics bin properly (where the latter is an option).
I consistently have two recycling bins full for pickup every 2 weeks and a good amount of organics weekly as well. It’s not a lot of work and once you actually see how much shit used to just be chucked in the garbage that doesn’t need to be, you’ll probably change your ways.
If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

No I know what you guys mean, I just think the whole thing is poorly executed. The onus should be on the city who enacted the the bylaws to provide a better solution then rely on people who don't give a shit to do their job for them.

Different clientelle. The onus should be on the citizens. If Burnaby was full of people who didn't give a rat's ass about their situation, I can almost, almost, guarantee you same shit will happen there, too.
Then again, you could be right. Perhaps the shitheads you guys voted in should be hung from the rafters. Slapped back into reality.

I can afford to put gas in my cars... but it does affect decisions on some unnecessary stuff like going out for a cruise in the afternoon to get a Krispy Kream or floor the gas pedal entering the hwy when the gas is almost $2/L (car needs premium). It's not that I can't afford it, it's that "being expensive" and "polluting" idea that simply turn any excitement off.
With an EV, I can do all that without having to dealt with any guilt. Heck, I'd even get free charging.

The amount of pollution from one vehicle is negligible in the grand scheme of things, and depending on how the EV was built and what is being used to generate the electricity the pollution is still generated, it's just done somewhere other than the rear bumper of your car. A lot of provinces are mostly hydro but in Alberta and Sask nearly half the electric comes from coal and coke and nearly half is natural gas. Europe gets most of theirs by burning things as well.
