Ironic how Trump as president didn't do a thing on Jan 7 in Washington Capitol.

In LA, he calls the National Guard and planning to send in the Marines to restore order.

But this is what he's been waiting for anyhow, to punish Dem States like Cali.

The Department of Defense just announced 500 active duty marines are now preparing to deploy to Los Angeles as protests intensify.
This will not end well.

Seeing the footage from LA is 100% exactly like what I saw in 2019.

Sounds like a good argument for naturalizing all of them

Same with the 1+ millions expiring VISAs in Canada?

CivicBlues 06-09-2025 09:42 AM

Maybe don't act like a fucking gestapo disappearing people into a El Salvadorian black hole? There's ways to deport and regularize people humanely

Anyone else think that ICE's heavy handedness is intentional to provoke these riots, so that Trump has an excuse to really ramp shit up, declaring martial law and start shooting migrants and their sympathizers with real bullets?

Cheeto has always wanted to look like a strong man dictator to the world. That's why he admires Putin.

He probably told ICE to have their agents use more force to arrest undocumented residents in California. This piece of shit could care less if children of migrants are separated from their parents. Reading news reports are children crying while ICE agents take away their parents made my blood boil.

Oh Cheeto, what a tough guy. Being tough on illegal immigration means separating kids from their families. :considered:

I saw this social media post this morning: In Canada our ICE is refreshing, not arresting! :lawl:

Hondaracer 06-09-2025 09:53 AM

Yea in Canada we just let it destroy the housing and job market hehe

Gavin Newsom, the Democratic Governor of California, has again suggested he’ll sue President Donald Trump for calling the National Guard into the state.

He first suggested he’d sue the president yesterday, when he said the state would file a lawsuit Monday against what he described as an “illegal, immoral and unconstitutional” deployment of the National Guard.

This morning in a post on social media, the governor said Trump “flamed the fires and illegally acted to federalize the National Guard,” when he signed a presidential memorandum on Saturday activating the officers.

“The order he signed doesn’t just apply to CA. It will allow him to go into ANY STATE and do the same thing. We’re suing him,” he wrote in a post on X.

California attorney general announces lawsuit against Trump's federalization of National Guard

From CNN's Cindy Von Quednow

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a lawsuit will be filed Monday asking a federal court to set aside President Donald Trump’s “unlawful action” of federalizing the California National Guard amid protests in Los Angeles.

The attorney general announced lawsuit during a virtual news conference after days of protests in Los Angeles.

Slightly OT, but it still blows my mind that California is the 4th largest economy in the world. Newsom just last week threatened Trump about withholding federal taxes if he pulled federal funding, supposedly, California contributes $80 billion. I'm sure this threat further fuelled Trump's anger towards California.

This is one state that could break away and actually survive as an independent country

California is the 4th largest economy BECAUSE it is part of the US, not despite it.

The current Tech/University/venture capital ecosystem can trace their roots back to US Defense Department investment into the state in the early 50s and 60s.

The Tech giants continue to print mad stacks of money because they are part of and can sell to the largest consumer market in the world.

So if California were to secede and close off their borders (unlikely without plunging the rest of the country into civil war) I highly doubt it will remain 4th largest in the world for very long.
