Russia and China are elated with this. It makes me sad (but unsurprised) to see people in here cheering it on, but Canada will likely get pretty fucked. Hope the trolls are ready for that. Selfishly, as a permanent resident of a Chinese region, I hope I get some benefit, or at least avoid catastrophe. We shall see! Let's see what happens! How fun, right? EleGiggle |

What's most disturbing to me is seeing Canadians cheering for Trump, even as people close to him openly talk about slapping tariffs on Canadian exports. We call Americans "stupid," yet many Canadians don’t seem to understand or claim it's misinformation, why tariffs are harmful and how they will negatively impact us. |

Just hope that Matt Gaetz doesn't pass the vetting process for the role of AG ... if he does get it, it must make the rest of the Rep party's blood boil. I believe he is hated by the majority of his own party. He's such a friggin horrible specimen of a human being. |

The people saying this was all about "the economy" or "anti woke" shit are just fooling themselves. This election was about getting Trump and his buddies whatever they want, at the expense of the rest of the country (and many others that work with the US) |

I didn’t think I would see this happen in my lifetime, but here we are - America has officially turned into a banana republic. |
All great empires fall. It’s just god damn sad to see it in our lifetime. Ugh better get your road trips in asap. Soon it won’t be very safe or friendly to do these drives. |
Just went on my usual Trader Joe's, cheap gas, and Winco run. I guess kiss those trips goodbye. Shipping orders to Blaine............ frick. Quite a few Canuck haters in Washington............. I look asian enough to be considered chinese. Fire bombed car when I return from Bellis Fair Mall. Yeah, I'm over reacting.......... or am I.......... I used to crack up every time I saw the big Trump sign on I5. Now that the loser is commander in chief, I dunno, mun. |

You know when Trump was in office the first time 2016-2019? I went alone and drove my ass around rural Utah and Texas for 3 weeks- the reddest of the red. Nothing happened, everyone was friendly, surprisingly multicultural, got a few stares being the only non-white in the room but hell no one tried anything. You'll be perfectly fine in Washington, California, Hawaii, NYC, etc ie. the places most people go. Ironically the only times I was racially slurred in the US was from some redneck trucker in Bellingham and a homeless black guy in Atlanta. |
I hate to talk like this, but you guys have to remember that you 'Asians' aren't what the rednecks are pissed off about generally. I think it would be more dangerous to be overtly gay than overtly Chinese in the hardcore red states. Obviously if you're being obnoxious then perhaps people would be more sensitive to your obnoxiousness, but I doubt it's an issue if you're just doing your thing. |

Once it started to become more clear of Trump's ties to Epstein, notably the released interview tapes, along with Gaetz being accused of sex trafficking and pedophilia, the topic was dropped completely. What happened to the manufactured groups worried about children being trafficked by Democratic sex demons? Oh, they didn't even exist? Oh, it was actually your guys? Nevermind. This whole thing is such a mindfuck. The fact that Gaetz a guy being investigated for pedophilia and sex trafficking is now being pushed to be the top cop in the country is FUCKING INSANE. Don't get me started on Tulsi. She's the ONLY US politician harping about not supporting the continued re-armament of Japan. Literally no US politicians or allies are against this agenda, Japan is a clear ally against China's aggression, the only party that benefits and speaks about de-militarizing Japan is Russia and China. It's an absolutely bizarre stance from a US politician, the woman is a useful idiot. |

I ain’t holding my breathe waiting for things to trickle down and effect me. This circle jerk of worry will end up being greatly overblown when it comes down to it. I try to model my behaviour and attitudes after successful people I associate with and none of them in industries like construction and manufacturing are overly worried so why, as a basic consumer would I fret over it. It’s like this talk about “people who support Trump don’t understand tariffs!!” Are the lowest end of his support even remotely effected by international tariffs? People using food stamps and living in squalor? Not likely. |

I'm living here in southern Texas, and I've been getting into random political conversations with the random locals down here on the regular. It's fine. Most people are either stupid, misinformed, or don't care all that much. Most people are more worried about their day-to-day lives as opposed to throwing on a pillowcase and looking for violence. The path of least resistance is still a salient one for most, even if you're a racist fuck, you likely don't care enough to bring on physical conflict to yourself over it. If you want to vote with your pocketbook go for it, don't spend money in this silly country, but if you plan to visit, I wouldn't worry about your overall safety. |
Anyone I’ve ever met that has told me this or that place is dangerous and shouldn’t go has never been to that place, and generally, never travelled anywhere anyways. |
Yeah the shitty Canadian dollar is more likely to keep me from visiting over any potential Trump related racial violence. Also I've pretty much seen all I've wanted to see in the US save for a few national parks which I can probably get to when I'm old and driving RVs for vacation. btw not sure if you already stated somewhere else Mike but why are you living in South Texas? |
We ended up driving through 7 states in 5 days, stopping at random national/state parks along the way -- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and finally Texas. Beautiful country, and ridiculously easy to drive through, the highway system down here is fantastic. Civic, we're snow birding it, I hate the winter so I get away as much as I can. My spouse is a nurse so she ended up taking a travel contract down here, and I work 100% remotely, so I'm usually fucking off somewhere in the winter for a few months (usually Puerto Vallarta or Phoenix). It's 30 degrees today here in San Antonio, but I think Texas will be a one and done for us, the lack of access to public land in the outdoors, and overall infrastructure makes this place a Republican wasteland of sorts, I much prefer Arizona. We're looking to do Hawaii for the winter next year if the dollar doesn't keep ass fucking us. |

Thanks for your interesting stories about life in Texas. Out of curiousity, have you been to Galveston? I only hear stories from former NBA player Charles Barkley on the TNT basketball show about the "dirty water" in Galveston haha. Barkley also makes fun of the "big old women" in San Antonio. :lawl: He kept saying on the NBA on TNT show that Victoria is a Secret in San Antonio because of the "big" women there. :lawl: I think that Charles has been eating too many churros to even comment on the women of San Antonio hahah. |
Catch a Spurs game if you haven't yet, get a live look at that 7'3 kid Victor Wembanyama |
