just pushing more and more countries into the geo orbit of china. Look at Canada and Europe... everyone would rather have the stability of Emperor Xi over batshit crazy dotard Trump.
Whether they admit to, realize or care about it at all, this administration is causing generational damage to their country's image and reputation. The effects will be felt long after cheeto is gone. In this sense, it's actually going to be fascinating to see how the aftermath turns out.
Biden lives rent free in Trump, Noem, and many others' heads.

Gov. Gavin Newsom urged European leaders to “stand up” and show “backbone” to President Donald Trump – and stop fawning over him in private texts while criticizing him publicly.
“It’s time to buck up, it’s time to get serious and stop being complicit,” Newsom told a reporter during the Democrat’s visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, when asked if he had any message for Europeans concerned about the White House’s comments on acquiring Greenland.
“It’s time to stand tall and firm and have a backbone. I can’t take this complicity, people rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of kneepads for all the world leaders.
The California governor is 100 percent correct.
Show some backbone, Europe!
Cheeto is bringing his golf clubs to threaten Greenland and the rest of Europe.
Show some unity and strength against the bully.
As Newsom said to reporters, Europe is at Code Red.
Cheeto is threatening Europe like a bully with golf clubs.
Bring your guns, assault rifles, RPGs, trade bazooka, sell US Treasury bills, to show strength against the Orange Bully!
Cheeto will chicken out when he sees a united Europe. Cheeto will be TACO.
“I mean, handing out crowns, handing out Nobel Prizes — it’s just pathetic,” Newsom said. “I hope people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage. From an American perspective, it’s embarrassing.”
Newsom posted a clip of his comments on X, writing: “There’s no diplomacy with Donald Trump.”
“Get off your knees and grow a spine.”
On Tuesday, Trump trolled European Union leaders about Greenland by sharing AI-generated images of himself planting an American flag on the Danish territory

More than anyone, Americans both Republican and Democrat are the ones who need to show a backbone right now. They need to end this one way or another.
I'm sure this has already been said many times in this thread, but if I were Emperor Xi or KGB boss Putin, I'd be laughing all the way every single day at the stupidity that the US has engaged itself in.
This quote sums it up pretty well:
Quote:
We are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done,” journalist Garrett Graff wrote: “A superpower is [dying by] suicide because the [Republican] Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King. This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.”
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he was cancelling his planned tariffs on U.S. allies in Europe over U.S. control of Greenland after he and the leader of NATO agreed to a “framework of a future deal” on Arctic security.
I'm sure we'll be getting some new tariffs though because we spoke poorly of him and he's going to need more distractions as news switches back to the Trumpstein files. You were mean to me, because of that 20% additional tax to Americans, in your face!

Came aross this in my social media feed, and it breaks my heart to see how political rhetoric and the hatred it spawns has seeps into young children as well:
A viral video of a child in tears has sparked debate over the impact of political rhetoric in youth sports.
A 12-year-old boy named Max was left in distress after being told he would be deported during a youth soccer match. In a video filmed by his mother, Max recounts how an opposing goalkeeper called him an “illegal immigrant” and claimed Donald Trump would “get him” and send him back.
“I was born in America,” Max says through tears. “I don’t live anywhere else.”
The incident occurred as the United States marked the inauguration of Donald Trump for a second term. Critics say the video is a stark example of how heated political narratives regarding immigration can trickle down into children’s spaces, leading to targeted bullying.
The footage was originally shared by the Tennessee Holler and has since drawn widespread condemnation from parents and community leaders. Many have expressed concern that children are being used as proxies for adult political divisions.
Max’s mother stated that she chose to share the video not to create controversy, but to highlight the real-world consequences of certain language. “Kindness matters,” she said. “And it starts with how we treat one another.”
Bullying, esp among children, is not new. But while it is not Trump's fault that bullying occurs, I can't see how he isn't at least partially responsible for this one. If anything, I'd say seeing the POTUS freely and openly bullies everyone and anyone he wants normalizes and encourages the behaviour among children.

lol, Trump withdrew his “Board of Peace” invitation to Carney. How dare Carney deliver an impactful speech on the world stage!
Meanwhile, Putin is invited, but Trump has to protect Greenland from Russia!
Edit: a reporter needs to straight up ask Trump why he needs to protect Greenland from someone being invited to join his BoP.

Anyone see Elon's speech? Seems like he thinks of himself as a standup comic.
Was a bunch of weird moments as usual for him, he put it out there that he may in fact be an alien for starters... and then he said peace agreements were important, except they're spelled PIECE agreements... a piece of Greenland... a piece of Venezuela.. HA HA HA totally killed with that one!
Danielle Smith can beat the drum as much as she wants, fact is for every Albertan that wants to separate there are 3 or 4 more that are proud Canadians, it's not happening in my life time.

I would go as far as saying that IMO, even Danielle Smith is not a real Alberta separatist. She is only stirring the pot and exploiting that sentiments to bolster her support base so that she can continue to hang on to power.
To me, it seems like her situation is very similar to how the Rustad-era BC Conservatives as well as the federal Conservatives are. They need to pander to a right wing support base to garner more support, but the UCP is trying very hard to thread the line between appealing to mainstream center right voters as well as hard right nut jobs. It is not an easy job holding this diverse group together, esp when there are a bunch of loud mouth right wing nutjobs. She is obviously doing a much better job than Rustad has, but I'd also be interested in how much support she is going to lose to the Alberta Republican Party in the next election.

The sad thing is that if she just did shit that made sense... not COMMON SENSE disguised as racism like the USA... but shit that makes sense with a pragmatic and mildly progressive professional manner about it for people... she'd easily win the common vote and bring people around. Most people in AB are pretty centrist.
As it stands right now almost everyone I know here hates her guts and can't wait for an opportunity to hopefully get rid of her.
TLDR: A massive snow & ice storm is set to hit central and eastern parts of the US over the weekend. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees both Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has cautioned FEMA against using the word "ice" in fear that the public will confuse "ice" with "ICE".
Quote:
Homeland Security officials have urged disaster response staff at the Federal Emergency Management Agency to avoid using the word “ice” in public messaging about the massive winter storm barreling toward much of the United States, according to two sources familiar with the directive.
The concern is that the word could spark confusion or online mockery, given the ongoing controversy surrounding US Immigration and Customs Enforcement — also known as “ICE.”
The guidance, informally delivered to a group at FEMA Thursday by officials from the Department of Homeland Security – which oversees both FEMA and ICE – comes as states across the South brace for potentially devastating ice accumulations, with some areas expecting a quarter -inch or more.
Officials told staff they worry that certain phrasing – like “watch out for ice” – could be misinterpreted or quickly turned into internet fodder, especially as ICE operations remain a flashpoint in cities like Minneapolis and beyond. That would take away from the purpose of the messages, meant to protect people in danger over the next few days, the officials said.
“If FEMA says, ‘Keep off the roads if you see ice,’ it would be easy for the public to meme it,” a source with knowledge of the guidance told CNN. “I think it’s a dangerous precedent to set. If we can’t use clear language to help prepare Americans, then people may be left vulnerable and could suffer.”
Instead, FEMA staff have been encouraged to use terms like “freezing rain” in their public messaging, the sources said.
A statement to CNN Friday, attributable to a FEMA spokesperson, said: “Reporting’ like this reads like a desperate ploy for clickbait rather than real journalism that actually gives Americans disaster preparedness information that could save lives. FEMA will use correct and accurate descriptors of weather conditions to communicate clearly to the American people.”
This comes as the White House and Trump himself often employ memes in their public messaging. Earlier this week, the official White House account posted on social media a fake image of one of the people arrested in Minnesota after they interrupted a church service to protest a pastor who appears to be a top ICE official. A White House spokesperson responded to questions, saying: “Enforcement of the law will continue. The memes will continue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The looming storm, which also is expected to dump snow from the Rockies to the Northeast, threatens to snap power lines, topple trees and turn roads treacherous. FEMA is tasked with coordinating a sweeping federal disaster response, which includes issuing public warnings.
FEMA appeared to follow the new guidance in a Thursday night tweet that did not mention the word “ice,” warning: “Heavy snow, freezing rain & cold temps are expected across many states this weekend, which could cause damage and widespread power outages.” Another post on X Friday did the same: “A major winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, freezing rain and dangerous cold across much of the U.S., creating risks for travel, power and safety.”
The storm is forecast to stretch more than 2,000 miles from Texas to New England, impacting nearly three dozen states, with the most severe ice expected in the South. Hundreds of thousands could lose power for days, largely from the damage that heavy ice could do to the grid.

Trump says he putting 100% tariffs on Canada if we make a deal with China. I guess he thinks he gets to dictate who we do trade with now? Making the ridiculous claim that goods will flood into the USA from China through Canada which isn’t even true.
I hope China responds and says they’ll tariff the shit out of the USA if it doesn’t back down.
