Mary Browns chicken sucks, they don't even have a spicy. Now Brownies chicken is fricken awesome. There's one in Maple Ridge and they are opening up in Mission soon as well.

Anyone make their own fried chicken?

i make my own fried chicken now cuz KFC got rid of extra crispy and church is doesn't seem to be a good deal now

And the other reason is cuz we have a household deep fryer which my family got 20 years ago and it still works (so why not use it lol)

I buy the frozen mccains bag of fries and throw them in without adding oil. It helps if you pre-heat your actifry; makes the fries crispier. Haven't tried frying chicken in it, I don't think it would work aside from chicken tendies.

Try Oprah's unfried chicken recipe. It's damn good.

Says it beats all other chicken joints in Vancouver.

Uh huh.
That's what you said about high five.

Haven't you done enough damage?
The stains.
The green potato mold stuff that isn't mold but tastes like mold.

Oh i get it. You think this is some kind of game.
These are real lives pal. Real fried chicken.
Comprendes?

Has anyone been to DK Chicken? I just noticed it the other day when we were heading to Pho99. They've been around for less than a year, but they seem to be getting a lot of good reviews.

I did before when I had a household deep fryer and the chicken was bomb but the effort was not worth it. The amount of oil used and the cleanup made me stop using it.

Garlic fried chicken + Kpop = a winning combo in my books. Will try soon !!! Thanks for the link

Badhobz 09-30-2018 05:36 AM

you guys were saying Mary brown and the first thing I thought of was some southern black lady making delicious fried chicken. Went to their website and discovered....

It’s fine for potato’s. It is absolutely in no way a replacent for a classic oil bath deep fryer. It’s more like a convection oven that stirs your food for you. Nothing more

Koreans know how to fry chicken, believe me folks they have the best fried chicken. I get asked all the time, ask anyone. And I tell them, Koreans have the best chicken, it's great, love it. /trump

JTL Chicken World in Coquitlam (formally Chicken Holic) has really good, crispy korean chicken.

you did say their fries tasted moldy, implying their fries were moldly, so maybe you should learn how to fucking convey a description better before you trash talk a mom & pop's establishment

Dude. Take a deep breath. Chill.

All he said was that it tasted like mold, doesn't mean it's actually moldy... If I said something tasted like shit, it doesn't mean I'm actually eating shit.

Unless if I'm at No. 9 late night, then for sure there's rodent feces in the chow mein.

twitchyzero 09-30-2018 06:09 PM

'nice moldy taste' was in his original review, he did not say 'it tasted like mold'

if someone's gonna attack my intelligence ad hominem, i'll play grammar police

I just thought it was comical he thought fried chicken can be too greasy when others here are saying some fried chicken sucks because they're too dry

can't win!

then of course he resorts to name-calling

welfare 09-30-2018 06:19 PM

Only one way to settle this..

Fried chicken meet.
High five at high noon.
Let the chicken do the talkin'

Badhobz 09-30-2018 08:19 PM

Nobody here tried that chicken world in Surrey ? Please don't make me ride my red rocket out to Surrey just to do a chicken review for RS.... I don't trust my coworker. He's not a big chicken fan like me.

fliptuner 09-30-2018 08:52 PM

Is that the old LA Chicken?

welfare 09-30-2018 10:35 PM

I believe it is. In the mini mall by td bank. Used to be a fields and Rogers video in there.
I've actually tried it. But it was so many years ago, it might have actually been The la chicken at the time.

Tried my hand at doing homemade deep fried chicken in our le creuset dutch oven over the summer and it was so juicy but what a pain in the ass to clean up.

We didn't have a splatter screen, so the entire gas stove was covered in oil as was the kitchen backsplash. GF was NOT happy when she saw the mess I made :lawl:

I have to say that it was delicious and juicy, but the amount of effort and having to deal with the cleanup/excess oil was too much for me to want to do it again.

SkinnyPupp 09-30-2018 11:34 PM

^^^ I'm glad deep frying is such a pain in the ass to clean up, or I'd be doing it all the time at home LUL

welfare 10-01-2018 09:08 AM

We deep fry at home all the time and it's not Really messy at all.
Actually less clean up than stovetop since less dishes are used. Like bbq :)

GG 10-01-2018 10:52 AM

tried hi five chicken over the weekend, thx to this thread

boy do i regretted, worst fucking chicken i ever had in my life

THe chicken was so dry like save ons chicken, the batter was tasteless and has a weird smell. Whoever said hi five is good needs to get their fucking taste bud checked. Cuz even KFC taste better than that garbage.

Went to DOwnlow chicken the next day, now thats a whole different story.
Chicken was juicy, fresh made to order. Huge line ups tho, so go early if you can

Hehe 10-01-2018 11:00 AM

Not sure what's the fuzz about Popeyes... I tried twice in different trips in the US and I never thought twice about it. IMO LA Chicken (Spicy) is better.

LA Chicken with Shin ramyun is like my personal comfort food combo.
