Popeyes chicken coming soon to poco

Popeyes Chicken Metro Vancouver has FINALLY revealed its opening date | Daily Hive Vancouver

Rs meet ?

whitev70r 09-26-2018 07:20 PM

Poco is a bit of a stretch to call it 'Metro Vancouver' ... too bad it wasn't more central!

G0rilla 09-26-2018 07:21 PM

There use to be a Popeye's in Coquitlam back then I believe, more than 10 years ago IIRC.

Mr.Money 09-26-2018 07:21 PM

think opening Robson downtown would make it more than 8 years??....Hmmm...

murd0c 09-26-2018 07:33 PM

yup and I can't wait, 10mins from my work.

Ch28 09-26-2018 07:52 PM

Just an FYI, but it's owned by RBI (Restaurant Brands International) which is the company that bought Tim Horton's and completely driven it into the ground.

If you go, do so when they first open when they most likely will still have corporate staff running it. After that, I can't imagine it being any good as the quality goes down like Timmies

twitchyzero 09-26-2018 08:00 PM

meh
church's and LA chicken already does pretty good fried chicken...and not too far from poco you have options for Korean fc

would like to see chick-fil-a instead
Toronto is getting 'em

I went there once, they had a bunch of goofball kids working there, and the food was disgusting DansGame

When they first opened in Coquitlam many years ago, this is exactly what happened. Everything was great in the beginning and slowly went downhill till the place vanished out of the blue and became the KFC run by sloths.

EDIT: Yes to Chick fil a

Or you could go to one of the other 50 fried chicken places in metro Vancouver that are better and not an American chain.

Badhobz 09-26-2018 08:34 PM

I've had decent Popeyes from the airport in Charlotte NC. I thought it tastes better than anything we had in Vancouver (including la Chicken, high five, etc). I guess time will tell if Popeyes can survive again in Vancouver. To be honest I think opening in Richmond would have wayy more business. Chinese people love fried chicken. Every churches I see is filled with Chinese people

donjalapeno 09-26-2018 08:34 PM

Tried it for the first time in San Diego over spring break and it was awesome. The spicy chicken, gravy and biscuit is like crack.

Dipping the biscuit in the gravy :drool

So true. Was near Lougheed mall last week and was craving for fried chicken. Then remember there was a Church's chicken nearby Coquitlam college. Went there and there are so many Chinese students there. What's odd is Church's chicken start accepting Wechat pay. Not sure if it is only that location or every Church's chicken accept wechat pay now.

twitchyzero 09-26-2018 10:18 PM

speaking of fried chicken at airports

the Popeyes I had at Salt Lake City was also delish
the Jollibee's I had at Manila was underwhelming, but it was very cheap (like most food there) so didn't bother me

highfive 09-27-2018 12:17 AM

Speaking of church’s... their coupons suck. It’s so expensive to eat there now.

They have like a 3pc combo for 7.xx, you dont even need a coupon now. It's one of their poster deals.

Spoon 09-27-2018 04:57 AM

I remember the food being pretty good way back when. But it was almost at a premium price tag for fast food.

I can't imagine how much it's gonna cost in 2018 dollars if I thought it was expensive back then.

If you're in Langley and want some decent fried chicken try Frickin Waffles across from the Army and Navy. The location is kind of shitty in a scuzzy area and honestly the decor and stuff isn't fancy at all comparable to a breakfast diner but the food is good. I'm not a big chicken guy but it's good here, crispy and not dry.
