Never had a disrespectful cab driver. Aside from telling them where to go they're usually talking on their phone the entire time. I'm really curious to know what random stuff they're talking about when I get in a 30 min cab ride and it sounds like the guy hasn't stopped talking to even take a breath.

At least Uber drivers will probably obey the rules and wear seat belts. It seems like more than 75% of cabs I get in the driver doesn't wear a seat belt.

Have had many EI cab drivers be complete dicks to my wife/other woman friends and colleagues.

Some to the point of asking why are they out by themselves alone etc should be at home bla bla

Already saw a couple cars floating around when i opened the app. It's real!

dachinesedude 01-24-2020 09:07 AM

Use promo code WEAREHERE for up to $5 off your next free ride on Uber. Got this in my email this morning.

gilly 01-24-2020 09:22 AM

Is it just me or is it kind of expensive? And I only see uber X and XL on the app. Is uberX the cheapest option?

Seems reasonable to me. Downtown to Metrotown was about $20.

Yea UberX is cheapest, XL only if you need a huge SUV or something.

From BCIT to Richmond Automall it's about $15 cheaper (22 vs 37) than a Cab.

I think the pricing is pretty good.

6793026 01-24-2020 09:46 AM

i think it's being subsidized a bit by uber to ensure its cheap; also if it's busy / rush hours, rates does adjust accordingly. Now i'm not an Uber specialist, but I'm sure its the same compared to US / Asia when I used it.

68style 01-24-2020 09:47 AM

My office in downtown to Richmond Centre is $25 right now... I imagine a lot more at rush hour or end of a Friday night on Granville.

But for right now pricing? That's about half what a cab would cost from here.

Simplex123 01-24-2020 10:18 AM

^ Half? I think Downtown to Richmond Centre is usually about $35. Nonetheless it's been priced correctly so far

I think it's more expensive than other places because the government is making them charge per minute on top of a charge per km.

I heard uber was only in Vancouver. So that kinda sucks if you need to go from Vancouver to Burnaby or Vancouver to Richmond.

hud 91gt 01-24-2020 12:36 PM

According to my last uber driver in LA, they have to drive you anywhere you want within the state, but can only pickup in their “zone”.

Could get dropped off in abbotsford in theory, just cant get picked up there.

Other municipalities dropped the ball, they had ample time to get the foot work done

Akinari 01-24-2020 12:55 PM

Uber is in all of Metro Vancouver, it's Lyft that's limited to Vancouver. Most of the major news outlets were citing incorrect info prior to them updating their articles just a few hours ago.

xxxrsxxx 01-24-2020 01:21 PM

so has anyone here tried it today?

uber driver: heres a car with plane feature to wuhan

Ludepower 01-24-2020 10:23 PM

Are these prices for real? I remember paying $60 to get home from DT to coquitlam with a cab.

Its $30 on uber. I'm not complaining but does the driver and uber make enough money at this rate.

I can't believe that idiot mayor in Surrey has threatened to fine Uber drivers for conducting business in "his city" when the entire Metro Vancouver region has agreed to a regional ride hailing framework. Apparently, the issue has never been discussed in City Hall with the Council either.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that 90% of taxi drivers probably live in surrey

That's what happens when you have FPTP and not proportional representation. He's bending over backwards because a lot of his ridings in Surrey are involved in the taxi cartel.

MarkyMark 01-24-2020 11:25 PM

I'm in Langley what's their status on Uber I can't find shit
