How someone can be conservative these days is wild based on the fact the libs are just the same party without the conspiracy theories or the fake religious bullshit to justify bigotry.
There is literally no reason to vote for the cons platform wise because it would be basically the same as the libs but with some removal of public health and education.

You are saying like there's a platform other than ax the tax, build the homes, and we are not the liberals

lol fair. I mean like a platform the conservatives would make if they had the capability of making one.

Mikoyan 11-07-2025 09:45 PM

PP's current platform is "Don't cross the floor."

Manic! 11-08-2025 02:01 AM

Hey guys I got a great idea for a TV show. Imagine a politician how is the leader of the opposition. But suddenly his party loses confidence in him. So he has to move out of his mansion in Ottawa to a small town in Alberta with his family. I call the show Poilievre's creek. What do you guys think?

westopher 11-08-2025 09:07 AM

lol imagine how horrendous it would be to hear PP’s voice for half an hour a week.
I think the funniest part would be the production being done by the network that he threatened to shut down.

The strategy of going after people who are angry and disillusioned is not a bad strategy; arguably, the conservative movement has done quite well to mobilize this demographic.

However, I woild argue that grievance politics has a ceiling in Canada, which has a higher rate of post secondary education, including a disproportionate percentage of people with university degrees. People who are university educated generally have a more nuanced perspective on the world.

mikemhg 11-08-2025 12:26 PM

I'm trying to have hope that people are beginning to become sick of this grievance style politics, not only here, but in the US.

You already hear people sick of hearing complaints about gender/trans/pronoun crap, its become hacky to even bring that stuff up now. It's like people have realized all this stuff are just obscure wedge issues being used by establishment figures to garner votes and engagement.

It's become clearer to these people with Trump running on all these wedge issues, getting into office and pretty much acting like a standard corrupt crony Republican, and showing that they never really cared about any of these stupid issues they grandstanded for years about ahead of the election. Mandani was another example of the cynicism these guys carry, throwing the most ridiculous boogyman labels on the guy, and none of it worked.

The Conservatives have some real soul-searching to do, it's no coincidence they're falling apart in BC, and federally.

This style of contrarian politics is getting fucking old.

Phew ... the budget passed 170-168. Being sarcastic here, no chance in hell that it wouldn't pass as no one wants another election. Greens voted for, and 2 NDP and 2 Cons abstained. That's all it took ... carry on.

Harvey Specter 11-17-2025 05:22 PM

PP is the fallback guy. He’s banking on the Libs imploding so Canadians feel forced to vote for the Cons. Beyond the usual dribble and talking points nothing out of PP’s mouth suggests he has any real vision for Canada.

westopher 11-17-2025 05:24 PM

It’s been what 4 years of that now? Will the cons ever get serious?

bcrdukes 11-17-2025 07:14 PM

They are always serious :troll:

68style 11-17-2025 07:51 PM

Hard to believe whiny bitch PP has only been the head of the Cons for 3 years now, feels like we’ve had to endure him forever

I'm jealous, how do you embed twitter/X now?
Used to work if you replace 'x' with 'twitter' in link but that doesn't work anymore.

unit 11-18-2025 08:04 AM

im surprised anyone uses twitter anymore. i completely stopped at least a year ago and my life is better for it. the comment section is the worst ive ever seen anywhere.

These 40 people don’t represent Palestine anymore than the Jewish Israeli guy that killed the people who “looked like Palestinians” randomly on the street represents Jewish people.

I think you just post the URL and it will embed in the post.
