The only thing that pisses me off is that mainlanders are so fkn rude, they budge in line, and they don't give AF about common decency, they just do whatever makes their lives easier. The younger generation is way better, but the older ones are aholes. At least that's my experience.
Might just be an artifact of growing up in a time where people are dying all around you, and you kill or get killed. Kind of makes you a certain way. Can only afford to be gracious if it's not going to get you fucked. I suppose it can be varying degrees of difficult to rewire, from one person to another. Some minds just don't change that easily, especially if they've been through trauma.
As China approaches the prosperity that we've enjoyed in our lifetimes, they're going to become more like us. Meanwhile as our economy sinks toward scarcity, we might begin to see increasing levels of savagery among our own.

I find the younger ones don't carry the same habits as their older counterparts. The only behaviour they carry through is the lack of respect for personal space, and often, they are unaware. There needs to be a way to measure their social credit score remotely.

He turns around and was like uhhhhh mo yi si ah !
Damn fucking right mo yo si. I’ll push you in front of the fucking ding ding you shit bag.

I didn't run into that much this last time I went back. There's a lot less mainlanders now compared to say 10 years ago. And then a swift elbow gets things in check very quickly

You might be on to something. I don't know if it's because of the economy or if it's social media, but people these days are pretty short. There's no more grace left. Everyone is in a rush.
It's like those people in costco who are in a rush.. I'm like wtf are you doing here if you're in a rush trying to push your cart so fkn fast when there are hoards of people. If you're in a rush, maybe you shouldn't be at costco at lunch time lol
lol I think the endless amount of homeless people laying across sidewalks and living in squalor on our streets kind of underlines the lack of compassion and caring in our society far more than someone rushing in Costco.
Most people here are now accustomed to seeing people in the most dire of straights and just stepping over them.

I feel like the only time I see homeless people is when we're downtown or around science world. Other than that, I feel like I don't see them very often.

Unemployment isn't exactly a reliable figure either lol... I'm currently contributing to the "unemployed" rate, but it's completely by choice. I could go get a job tomorrow at any number of places if I wanted to.
We're literally .7% lower than the 2024 numbers of you dreamland Europe and ahead of the last numbers the Conservative party garnered us.
I don't know what your point is.
I think you'd be surprised how many people are out of work by choice... literally everywhere I go in Calgary there's hiring signs, especially in retail. City of Calgary has tonnes of open unfilled positions, Calgary Police too... I know those ones because I look at them sometimes since they have stuff similar to what I used to do once in awhile.
Who are you manic? Kids just choosing not to work VS lack of opportunity? lol
Also comparing what, 40 nations of an entire continent to a country with a population the size of Poland alone? Which, has almost a 2.5% lower rate. But ok.

On occasion I see some middle eastern lady asking for money at the Superstore on Grandview Hwy, but she doesn't look homeless, she looks more like refugee status.
Then there's the guy who always asks to return carts so he can pocket the $1 deposit. I think that's a pretty good hustle, because whenever he asks me, I always give it to him. In my mind it's like he's working for it..lol no sure if that logic makes actual sense though.
As a CONservative, you see what you want to see, Hondaracer.
I see people living free. They're unashamed to be their real self. Where you see layabouts, I see artists and dreamers. Where you see public camping I see decolonial thriving.
Maybe instead of judging others, you should take the time to reflect on why you stopped to take a photo, instead of simply smiling at your fellow human living their lives, free to self-express in ways you simply might not understand.
Hondaracer, I hope you take the time to unpack your settler-colonial mindset of "appropriate" uses of public space, but I won't hold my breath.

lol I can just imagine what your IG is like based on this. All of the rage bait pages just consuming your day and no one needs to wonder why you're so mad all the time. Start following some chicks that do cartwheels with no bra and some meme pages man and stop making your day so shitty every time you open your phone.
