I still can't believe PP is the leader of that party, dude is completely and utterly washed.
The fact not one other person has mounted a challenge to his credibility/leadership speaks volumes of how little actual platform they have. I want a real official opposition in Canada for checks and balances, not whatever garbage they are trying to peddle themselves as today.

Budget highlights:
$141 billion more over the next five years — offset by $51.2 billion in cuts and savings.
A $78-billion deficit this fiscal year — lower than some economists had expected.
Slashes in bureaucracy by nearly 40,000 jobs through buyouts, attrition.
$51 billion for infrastructure to spur development.
Major projects like high-speed rail, new ports, carbon capture and storage face likely approval in the coming months.
An $81-billion funding package for the Canadian Armed Forces — including a Buy Canadian procurement plan.
Immigration getting slashed — with temporary residents like students and foreign workers to be cut by nearly 50 per cent.
The previously proposed emissions cap could be scrapped.

theres no more wind in the sails of the conservatives after carney took office.. all their momentum was against trudeau..
their numbers will only continue to drop now that a more moderate is the PM.
they are irrelevant.

But the conservative movement is still strong in some places. Yukon went full in on Cons in their election.
It's probably just PP as leader, if they got a decent leader, then I think the pendulum might swing towards them in the next election.

The budget itself is as big (ie. important) as whether it'll pass or not. Looking at the summary, I don't think there is a single thing that BQ, Cons, or the NDP has asked for to be onboard to support the confidence vote LOL~
Aww... I feel bad for both the NDP and their average supporter. They are in no (financial) shape to go through another round of election, and I agree with all the analysts that they'd have no choice but to support the budget, even though none of their asks are there...

It's easy to save face, just make sure enough members of the Cons, NDP, and Bloc are absent, then the vote for budget will pass so no one has to go through an election into Christmas.

NDP can also abstain with the same result as voting in support of it.

the prob is if they do that, there is enough of an appetite for far right stuff in canada that the party will either split or the PPC will gain traction... making it even harder for the cons to win another election.
really all they can do is keep leaning into the right to secure all those votes and keep losing the centerists.

Xshitter post says he was "removed from caucus" makes it sound like he was booted, major news outlets say he resigned himself.
This is why I hate social media sources.
