I’ve heard the Canucks are working to get Tryamkin back and wonder if this is part of the strategy.
I wouldnt mind that strategy. GMJB did have a good point, whoever we drafted was atleast 1-2 years away from making it to the big club anyways. Also theres a small possibility that we can negotiate with his KHL team to get him out of his contract a year early. I really wanted Caufield but the reality has sunk and im now liking this pick alittle more. The one thing that scares me is that we seem like we dont give Russians a fair shake. Last russian i remember Canucks treated well was Artem Chubarov

I said right away when I saw the pick, that getting a highly skilled Russian forward can't hurt the chances of sweet talking Tryamkin back and making Goldobin feel more comfortable in Vancouver too.
Not that I think Goldy is a huge part of the decision though... if anything, this makes Goldy even more expendable in a trade.
So min 2 years till he gets here, 3rd year is a feeler in the NHL, 4th year, 2023 the best you can hope for is a sophomore Boeser Type season?
What in the fuck are we thinkinggggggg...and that’s best case scenario thinking that St.petersburg doesn’t offer him crazy money and he just stays there and we wasted a first round pick. You’d hope JB is confident enough in their discussions that that wouldn’t be the case but man, how can you know

Most guys in that draft range were easily 1-2 years from being NHL ready anyways. At least from this perspective, Podkolzin will avoid that cancerous Trent Cull in the AHL and develop in the KHL

This^^
Anyone you pick in that range is going to need at least 2-3 years before stepping in to the nhl and with our player development in the ahl, let the guy develop in the 2nd best league against men. Worry about the contract negotiations later let the guy play and develop. Can’t fault management for taking bpa
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

^ why ?? Do the Canucks really need another forward? J.T. Miller at $5.25M/yr ??!!
And for conditional 1st round next year ??!! Just when you think JB was doing well ... he pulls a Jay Beagle 2.0 ... but worst.
