I heard on TSN1040 that if Ferland goes on LTIR (and some other role players like Motte, Leivo, etc), then that somehow magically frees up $3.5M of cap space.
They also said that Canucks should swing for the fences and try to go and get a Dman for a deep run, the West is open ... uh but St. Louis and Colorado says 'Hi'.

^i might make myself look like a complete idiot here but from my understanding. Since Ferland has been on LTIR(assuming he will stay there for the rest of the season) 68 out of the 82 games. Thats 83% of the season. 83% of 3.5Mil = 2.9Mil. Leivo 47 out of the 82 games. 57% of 1.5Mil = 840k. Motte somewhere around 600K
2.9mil+840k+600k = 4.34Mil in LTIR savings minus all the call ups weve made to replace theses guys Baertschi, Bailey, MacEwen ect. over that course. I can see where that 3.5M Cap space came about. Theres an exact science to this and other rules ect that i probably missed or not aware of but i like my dumbed down version better since its easier for me to understand.

man, if it Petey and Hughes hadn't picked up that point today the entire game would have been complete trash. Oilers take over 1st in the Pacific for now.
I'm now VERY glad I didn't buy a ticket for today's game. I knew it was a gimmick to give the Sedins an entire week celebration. They totally deserve it but this was just a PR move to sell more tickets.

The Canucks so good.
I don’t mind them losing a game or fifty, but at least show up. Fragile team. Need reason to show up. Any other player going to be honoured or have their jersey retired? So sad. Oh well, it’s the Canucks........... got used to it about 45 years ago. This city is too good for them, gulolol.

The Sedins deserves to have an entire week devoted to them for all that they done for the city.
Plus it helps the charities involved.

I get that he's a veteran and has playoff experience but he's been shit this year. Healthy scratched a few times IIRC.
Also, Madden was instrumental in Northern clinching their third consecutive BeanPot. He better not be the prospect we're sending away.
