Imagine the amount of negative press they would receive now compared to then. I wonder how many here remember that song.

Wait what?
This is racist?

CBC News spoke with a woman by phone who identified herself as Carla Waldman and said she encountered a woman in the parking lot after grocery shopping.

She confirmed her car was touching the other woman's licence plate, but said she does not regret the racist language she used in the video.

"I do not regret anything I said to her because she was a very mean person," Waldman said.

"I don't care what they're calling me. I am not a racist person."

RCMP are asking the public to refrain from commenting about the incident on social media to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Did she park over the line when there was no vehicle in front of her (or a different vehicle parked well behind the line) or did she hit the vehicle in front of her and that’s what started this whole altercation?

I’m inclined to believe the latter based on her disregard for the vehicle beside her, her behaviour caught on camera, and her comments above.

If the vehicle in front of her drove into her car despite being a little over the line, that’s pretty shitty, too.

She went #noregrets.

In the link posted in Post #1 here, is that OP? Cause saying you work for RCMP used in a threatening way could add other implications. Depending on how she said it, couldn't she be charged for impersonating a law enforcement officer?

twitchyzero 08-24-2019 08:49 PM

for sure gonna result in her house/car trashed now that she's doubling down

No, actually imo I don't find it racist. But in today's ultra sensitive times people would find it offensive. That was my point.

EmperorIS 08-24-2019 09:31 PM

Good thing she went all in, now we can have some fun.

I don't think there's a single offensive word in that phrase. Nor was it even remotely meant to be offensive.

danned 08-24-2019 10:39 PM

ask her to do this at chinatown
lot of opportunities for her

This current culture is just so pathetically weak.
Used to be someone hurled a racial slur at you, you hurled one back. You stood up for yourself. Went on with your day chin up.
Not pull your phone out at the first sign of confrontation, play victim while thousands of anonymous "hero's" try to tear down a life for committing the capital crime of making offensive remarks.

I just find the whole "suppress anything remotely offensive" mentality to be completely unhealthy.

fliptuner 08-24-2019 11:28 PM

I was surprised this actually made the news. People are so easily rattled these days.

Nice fucking parking
Go back to your country, chink
I'm the chink? Go find a handicapped stall you retarded cunt
Ching Chong Ling Long
Holy shit. You really are retarded. STFU before I slap you with my wallet

this is exactly what I'm getting at. There are things these days that aren't even remotely offensive but are labelled as such.

Their heads would explode if they watched a 70s sitcom

You're speaking from experience as a minority?

I agree that internet outrage culture is fucked up, but come on. Racism was never innocuous.

iwantaskyline 08-25-2019 01:05 AM

It's because of the convenience of a smart phone, you can record anything with very little effort.

Let's be honest here, if someone hurled racist shit at you and all it took to ruin their life was for you to pull out your smartphone record it and then post it on reddit/facebook -- you'd do it 9/10 times.

Chinese is certainly not the minority in Richmond.
And when i grew up in high school, in Vancouver, white was definitely less than half.
And it's not as if the same things didn't happen between white people either. Serbians, Croatians, Hungarians, Italians, Irish, etc..
A lot of these people did not get along well at all.

TBH, in a country with this many ethnicities, I'm surprised (pleasantly) that it isn't a rampant thing.

ScizzMoney 08-25-2019 01:26 AM

In the article she says she's not a racist person. So we can just close the thread now and move on. It's all just been a big misunderstanding.

Reruns are still being aired and heads are not exploding because it was shot in the 70's and people are not stupid.

True story:
Couple weeks ago we had a customer (i won't mention his ethnicity) who dropped his car off for a concern. I think it may have been under warranty. Anyways, we were extremely busy that day and were unable to get to it promptly.
afternoon rolls around, customer comes in and immediately plays the race card. Says "you didn't look at my vehicle because I'm (blank)! I'm going to go to the news and tell them you're a racist!"
The advisor was extremely (and rightfully) upset. He didn't hit record on his phone. Instead he got up and told him to take his car and get the fuck out.
The customers wife, very nice lady actually, apologized for her husband and pleaded for the advisor to have someone look at the car when we could. Which we did.

You don't have to be vindictive to get your point across.

SkinnyPupp 08-25-2019 02:14 AM

To be a white person in Canada.. what a perilous life BibleThump
