Could someone please outline what is beleived to be outright racism in the article? If you could lay it out, as if explaining it to relatively socially progressive, fiscally conservative folks who would never vote Trudeau, that would be helpful.

He says u can't trust people of other cultures, unless they're fully assimilated to your culture/wanting to be... or if they're protestants.

He says a country can't succeed unless this is true.

Basically, immigrants must be Christian, completely forget their culture, and adopt a new one fully, no adding anything because yuck we don't trust that shiet, or else we're all doooomed doooomed I tell you!

SkinnyPupp 09-08-2019 12:12 AM

It's tricky when it comes to people who think sharia law takes precedent over a country's law... I think most people here know where I stand on racism, acceptance, etc.

But man, it's something you need to talk about without instantly screaming "RACIST"

Bouncing Bettys 09-08-2019 12:26 AM

Okay, but I'm a 9th gen Canadian/United Empire Loyalist raised atheist (My ancestors literally came from the UK(Ireland/Scotland/Wales and according to Manic, were massive pieces of shit on par with Hitler) and fled the eventual USA), yet I have no problem feeling included by a supposed Christian society. I guess I had to once endure the Lord's Prayer in grade 1 because my teacher was some sort of Christian and stiffer separation of Church and State didn't come in until the very next school year, but I didn't convert or feel compelled to at any point. My best memories of that school year involve myself and a Hindu classmate making faces at each other and drawing boobies while the rest of the class recited. What a racist concept to believe the best candidates as immigrants should want to adopt Canadian ideals and traditions.

StylinRed 09-08-2019 01:32 AM

Adopting ideals and traditions of your new home is completely different than saying "you must adopt fully, and cannot hold onto anything of Ur past, because that makes u untrustworthy"

We allow faith based mediation in Canada, and it works for those who agree to it.

But to say your faith makes u untrustworthy, because it's not Christian, and it's going to doom the country is just well.... Bigotry
Oh wait he's also saying races should stick with their own races, so... He's also being racist

SkinnyPupp 09-08-2019 02:52 AM

I don't expect anyone to adopt any traditions they don't want. Go to the Stampede on the weekend, or stay at home praying all day, I don't care.

You can be christian, buddhist, muslim, or anything or nothing in between.

However if you believe in a doctrine that harms other people, that's a potential issue.

Ahh it's another Conservative Islamophobia article

I don't agree 100% with what this guy is saying, but I don't see why people are upset by it. And, it's opinion. Thankfully, we can, in this country, decide for ourselves how to react to such articles.

Just saiyan..............

Also, how hard is it to become a citizen of, let's say, china, japan, korea? Just wAndering.

whitev70r 09-08-2019 08:24 AM

Yah, same. I might not agree with a person's opinion but isn't that what democracy is all about? Everyone that presents an opposing view to the liberal progressive view is labelled as hate speech, racist. Let people use their intelligence to decide for themselves. We don't need thought police.

Don’t you thank every pro-China post in the HK protest thread?

Isn't it ironic that in demanding the article be silenced, how many times greater the level of publicity it's received.
Mr. Hecht really owes a debt of gratitude to the mob of tolerance.

However inadvertently, seems cancel culture could be used as quite the little marketing tool.
Honest question: has anybody here ever tried chick-fil-a? If so, how does it rank?
Reveal yourself, you bigots!

I like the Chik Fil A sauce - it's like a smoky honey mustard with some ranch mixed in. The fried chicken has good flavor and tenderness, as does their grilled chicken.

If I don't like black rice, does that make me ricist?

If you advocate that the country should be as homogeneous (white, protestant) as possible and segregate what little diversity does exist, yes.
