Stupid question, i didn't research, but hoping someone can answer for me. Can I cross the border to pickup car parts I got shipped to blaine? It's maybe "essential travel" because I "need" the parts.

westopher 09-29-2020 06:43 AM

No. Get the shipping forwarded or you’ll probably be waiting til January.

Nope

My friend wanted to go get his RV that he has stored, so that his wife could use it for work (she's a nurse and wanted to sleep in it to keep away from the family) he got turned around by the US, and then still had to quarantine for two weeks

But if you have a business, you could try using the commercial crossing, as long as you have all the necessary documents

saw two Cali plates this weekend, both of them families with children

CBSA more lax than CBP? or is the Alaska loophole still working?

CivicBlues 09-29-2020 12:03 PM

^ were they Persian/Middle Eastern looking? Apparently a ton of them work in the Valley and keep their families up here. Could be waiting it out this side of the border.

dachinesedude 09-29-2020 12:57 PM

nah they were white

EvoFire 09-29-2020 01:13 PM

Been seeing a lot of US plates, lot ofrandom state plates too like Tennessee, Texas, Alabama. I'm guessing Canadians working in the states have escaped back to Canada?

The only way to pick stuff up now (assuming it's in Blaine, not Pt. Robert) is to fly down to Seattle, and either rent a car or have a Seattle based buddy to drive you back. (And you have to be CDN citizen/PR to cross back to Canada... but if you are walking back, expect an earful from border agents)

I have a friend who did just that as he ordered a whole bunch of stuff before summer (he thought the closure would only last a month or two before his summer flight to China) that were gifts/stuff for relatives in Asia.

He had to do it because he had no use for all those stuff...

What he ended up doing was... YVR-SEA... rented a car to drive all the way back to Blaine, picked everything, drove back to SEA, and flew back to Asia from SEA-YVR-PVG. (Yes, he actually flew back again to YVR for his connection to China)

disappears for a while then returns with CA plates for weeks now :rukidding:

Seems like it was just a matter of time... The person who handled it as poorly as possible goes and gets it before the election. The only surprise is that it took this long. Here's hoping nobody around him gets it really bad. That includes everyone who was involved in that debate...

Manic! 10-01-2020 09:19 PM

Hey welfare what about that hydroxychloroquine?

Or he gets it... “recovers” and proceeds with his campaign to sway any on the edge that it’s no big deal.... there’s that tin foil hat. Ha.

Isn't that what happened in Brazil?

Ludepower 10-01-2020 10:39 PM

Not wishing Trump death but he definitely deserves catching it. Doesn't promote mask wearing or social distancing while encouraging people to come to his massive rallies.

He literally mocked Biden at the debate for wearing a mask, to his face

There's nobody on this planet who deserves it more

Great68 10-01-2020 10:57 PM

Oh god, he's going to recover and start spouting "See it's like I've been saying all along, it's not so bad!"

The timing of this news seems a bit too convenient, don't you think?

StylinRed 10-01-2020 11:54 PM

Well with debates n rallies going on they're all encountering more people and in closer proximity,
I wouldn't be surprised if they all get it, including Biden
