Mostly old ppl, like the highest risk demo

Quote:

Saturday’s demonstration was the first of two planned over the weekend. Posters and social media descriptions of the event describe it as a protest against “censorship, lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, quarantines, travel bans, social distancing, contact tracing, and government orders.”

Not one asian person in that crowd. No wonder people feel safer in richmond over anywhere else.

Edit: where are the cops? Where are the tickets???

Edit 2:

Fry says police and bylaw officers can’t clamp down on a protest without direction from the province’s public health officials. B.C.’s top doctor has issued Public Health Orders restricting gatherings, and party-organizers have been slapped with fines of up to $2,300. However, there is nothing in place to limit or curb protests amid the pandemic.

Quote:

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — West Vancouver Police were called to intervene after about a dozen anti-mask protesters boarded a ferry, and began causing a disturbance.

Deborah Marshall with BC Ferries explains the protesters got on the ferry departing from Departure Bay because they were attending an anti-mask rally in downtown Vancouver Saturday.

“They were being verbally abusive to other customers wearing masks. And we do have a mandatory mask policy at BC ferries. So we don’t put up with this type of behaviour and that’s why we call the police.”

Marshall says people involved were been banned from travelling with BC Ferries for the remainder of Saturday, and the ban may be extended – so they will have to find another way home.

She adds, all of the day’s sailings on the route between Departure Bay and Horseshoe bay have been delayed because of this incident– they’re running about 45 minutes behind schedule.

“Our crews will try to make up some time during the day but anybody travelling on that route today, I would suggest that they check out our website and look at the current status of the vessel.”

Jason Doucette with the VPD, says officers are aware of the protest near the Vancouver Art Gallery.

“We’ll have resources dedicated to the event to ensure the safety of the protestors, the public, and the police,” he says.

“Our organization respects peaceful protests and during public demonstrations, the VPD’s response is proportionate to the actives observed. Although we are not anticipating any serious issues today, we are prepared to deal with anything that may arise.”

I really don’t get what the big deal is, we all do stuff in our lives that’s inconvenient even if we don’t want to.... like go to fucking school and work hahaha... but to pick putting a face covering on as your line in the sand that you won’t cross? It’s just bizarre. Why is it so difficult even if you don’t think it’s effective or whatever other rationale people come up with.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say most of the people participating are financially afflicted and that’s their real issue — bitter and angry and frustrated that they’re broke already or that they’ve been made broken by this thing.

^ my real stubbornness comes out when people tell me I can’t do something. Normally in regards skillset, physical ability or just straight up mental capacity.... Following a rule? Probably not. But someone saying you “cant” generally fires me up. But who is telling these people they can’t? BC Ferries and Walmart? Lol

bcrdukes 10-18-2020 08:14 AM

The law suggests you shouldn't exceed the post limit, and when the police nab you for going over, are you going to be stubborn and tell the police to fuck off? :troll:

That’s not my logic for everything. I just said that’s what usually fires me up. I am a logical person. Lol.

Cops were there directing traffic, quite a few of them.

Uneducated, dirty, white people.

I'm pretty sure these peoples actions go far beyond being stubborn though. Funny how no shirt/no shoes/no service has never been an problem but suddenly asking people to wear a mask for the benefit of others is an issue. I know plenty of people can't comprehend doing something for the benefit of others but putting this much effort into it over the tiniest thing is just sad.

My real issue is the double standard. Walks into a place with a mask mandatory policy, you object when called out by staff and lose it. Yapping away at freedom of choice yet you don't respect the business to have the freedom of choice to serve you or not. Can't have it both ways but we know logic doesn't work.

Without them i wouldn't have learned that they'd found a large pre-existing tumor in her chest. You'd think that would warrant more than a slipped in paragraph at the end of the story.
But no, she should be worried for the covid and not the large growth in her lungs.
what disgusting manipulative exploitation.

This makes sense. I can't imagine THAT many people lack so much common sense. They're using these protests as an outlet for their anger.

In a way though, it's true that those in public facing businesses who are the most affected and have been sort of our sacrificial lambs in this crisis and I can understand their anger.

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2020 02:28 PM

Today, Welfare learned that young people can have pre-existing conditions too :fulloffuck:

This is exactly the example why we all need to be so diligent. There are many people out there walking around who have no idea they are carrying a pre-existing condition that could be complicated with COVID. Should people like her have to risk or accept death because some other shitstains don't want to follow the rules?

Yea. I get that. But you think they could have mentioned something like a tumor in her lungs a little more explicitly.
Rather than deceptively dropping it in the story, in a single sentence, at the end.

You think them blatantly editing that part of the story is a good idea?
That the segment of the population not taking it seriously aren't going to see that garbage and use it to assure themselves?
It's no wonder people don't trust these clowns in the media and then go off on their conspiracy tangents FailFish
