The vials contain a little more than their prescribed amount (think of it like a baker's dozen - you pay for 12 and get 13). So you can combine a few of them and get an extra dose.

I assume that they are using these extra doses for walk ins.

westopher 04-23-2021 02:06 PM

I believe someone here who knows better (maybe spoon.ek9) said they don’t combine vials. I thought the earlier thing with the Pfizer vials that was the case but it just has a full extra dose left when you have the proper syringe to get every last drop.

how do you plan to get by with zero income during a lock down? just bleed out savings indefinitely?

they won't mix different brands together. if it's all the same brand, we'll draw it all up and use as much of it as possible for extra doses. this is true in general of all medications.

You really should ask what you're doing with your life if you can't handle one month's expense without your income.

you really are an asshole you know that?

I know exactly what I'm doing with my life. I've been running my successful brick and mortar business for the past 12 years. A business I built that almost exclusively supporting events, and recognition. Gatherings of any kind. Gatherings that have been prohibited for the past 14 months. I'm not alone in that - 10's of thousands of people are in exactly the same position.

I've spent those past 14 months trying to keep it alive, pivoting to anything I can do to keep it going, all with the hope that we'll get back to normal as soon as possible. That means what little I can earn right now is desperately needed to keep the lights on. A lock down now (the effectiveness of which is highly debatable) would be devastating.

You really should ask what you're doing with your life if you can't handle 14 months expenses without 75% of your income.

Obsideon 04-23-2021 03:43 PM

Agreed, if that statement was made LAST April, it would make more sense.
I honestly don't think many businesses are going to survive another lockdown NOW. (including us)

Heck even this indoor dining restriction has shuttered another handful of restaurants I personally know... :(

Obsideon 04-23-2021 03:50 PM

Personally I've been advocating for a full lock down since the beginning but we are far too deep in the shit now after our government half-assed it for over a year.

Oh I have an analogy, you contract a flesh eating bacteria on your hand, instead of amputating the arm, you keep trying to rub ointment on it. It continues to spread, you try other creams that aren't clinically proven to work.
It has now spread to your chest, then the doctors decide, ok we need to cut you in half to stop the spread.

didn't we do it last year?

everyone WFH, saved enough money to buy houses

Many countries have pulled second lockdowns and it worked, at least cases are manageable now.

SkinnyPupp 04-23-2021 04:14 PM

Update on Israel, where 60% of the population are vaccinated

68style 04-23-2021 04:41 PM

But how many people are mind controlled now?

Super exciting to see... our numbers are going to fall off a cliff (the good kind of fall off a cliff) soon I hope!!

JDMDreams 04-23-2021 05:04 PM

Read my post and your post again. A true lock down isn't indefinite. Let's say REAL FULL LOCK DOWN for a month. Everything reopens as normal after like Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan. Do you see all businesses closing. You business owners need to reflect this to the politicians. If Canada followed this we wouldn't have half assed indefinite lock downs that's fucking everyone up.

Hondaracer 04-23-2021 05:14 PM

Kinda doubt if we had a month long lock down in October we’d any different than we are today

edit 2: just called every pharmacy in north van again, still no doses.

Maybe call up the location I mentioned and just go there? Bby isn't that far from North Van and might be better use of your time than calling around and waiting on hold each time before hearing no.

that's not what you said at all - you specifically decided to make an off handed remark about other people's abilities to manage their lives.

your post contributed nothing to this conversation, and whether intentionally or not was pretty condescending. you've got a tiny, narrow viewpoint of what is happening around you now - in the present. All I ever hear from you is what we should have done. small business is heavily advocating for support from the government.

I'm just glad you're not in charge - you'd probably be welding apartment doors shut.

i did call them - 5 minutes after you posted it. no walk ins. and pretty grumpy that I bypassed the covid information message playback and pushed through to the pharmacist.

what i did do was go out immediately after that and hit up a half dozen pharmacies on the north vancouver list in person right after that. none have had any stock for walk ins at all. I spoke with a very nice lady at the pharmasave that confirmed that they never had much to begin with

The only way we can get out of this WITHOUT a full scale lockdown today or in the future is by widespread vaccine use.

Unfortunately the government dropped the ball on that too, so here we are.

JDMDreams 04-23-2021 06:10 PM

Time to weld the doors? It does work, can't spread of you don't go in or out.

Sorry but I think the person who answered you was wrong. Apparently that location is now out of doses.
As of 30 mins ago, about 50 doses at the old orchard shoppers remaining for walk in.

I don't think they were wrong on the phone, i think they don't want to tell people they have doses when they can deliver as much as they want to with people who happen to come in. they definitely don't want to promise more than they have.

B.C. cancels Vancouver country club's clinic offering AstraZeneca vaccine to members
this is exactly my issue - and why the pharmacies shouldn't be in charge of this system. It should be totally transparent, and centrally organized.

Not even a West Van pharmacy. New West residents would miss out on doses because this guy is mule'ing it over to the BP's for a bunch of Karens.

Awesome, we'll start with yours :rukidding:

There are plenty of business owners here who are operating on massively reduced incomes, yet doing the right thing to try and keep their workers afloat.

If you said lock it down at the beginning, I bet everyone would be with you. Just because it doesn't massively affect you doesn't mean it won't to others.

Also from the government's track record, they'll probably just do it all wrong anyways and all the wrong people will suffer for it, and the assholes will still do everything to skirt the rules.

The BC government's approach to COVID is like wearing a condom after you've gotten the girl pregnant.

So what Province has done the best?

westopher 04-24-2021 06:19 AM

The Atlantic provinces quite clearly, but they have pretty obvious advantages.
