Living in Richmond is slow business, I'm past 40 and I still haven't gotten an appointment lol

1337 05-07-2021 09:35 AM

Mom just got her shot at the Italian Cultural Centre and it's Pfizer. Does anyone know if VCC is also offering Pfizer? Dad has his appointment there and him being older, he's of course concerned about the blood clot issue even though I've tried to explain to him that it's rare.

In addition to all the hotspots and AZ shots, it looks like 40+ year olds will finally be eligible for Pfizer/Moderna starting next week:

Tell him that the blood clot issues affect younger people. But yes, it's only pharmacies/pop ups that is administering the AZ shots, so he should be getting either Pfizer or Modena

Interesting Victoria-Fraserview is on that list of high transmission neighborhoods.

westopher 05-07-2021 09:49 AM

Is everywhere out of AZ at this point?
Getting my shot tomorrow after work. Restaurants are now on the list in the lower mainland. Was nice to be able to give some fucking good news to my staff for the first time in a couple months.

Ch28 05-07-2021 09:49 AM

I don't even think the province has any AZ shots left, so at this point most of them have to be Pfizer or Moderna.

MarkyMark 05-07-2021 09:56 AM

Just gotta get in before that J&J shot starts circulating lol

what part of town are you in? My area was added yesterday but still waiting for the email.

Imo this “hot spot” thing is bullshit

This is their way to perform somthing similar to the “pop up” clinics without the criticism. Not that I’m complaining but I kinda fail to see how some of the neighborhoods on the list are “hot spots”

Ie. my neighborhood, it only has 2 elementary schools, 1 high school, and the VAST majority of homes are single family homes with smaller families and maybe a suite.

I booked as soon as I got the email confirmation to book. Ended up getting it immediately at BCIT.

Living in the Burnaby Southeast area.

Friends who also live in the area say they're booked out so it looks like bookings went super fast to fill up.

Got Pfizer and so far no side effects. Barely felt the needle - this was probably the best to date.

My wife (34) got her text this morning, I (32) got mine a few hours after, living in Edmonds area, so Burnaby SE.

Yes a bunch of locations don't have any times/days, but a lot of them (albeit a further tad out) are still pretty empty. She booked hers at VCC tmrw morning, I get mine in South Surrey tomorrow afternoon.

Got my (30) email this morning, looked 30 min later and none of the Burnaby places had any appointments left, ended up choosing Coquitlam Porier for tomorrow morning... They had slots from 8AM till 2PM.

Again it’s just one of those things where I understand the need for “the greater good”, but my caveman brain feels betrayed when the irresponsible communities that seem to flaunt the rules (big white, Whistler, surrey, Abbotsford etc) all get priority and given the vaccine months before us.

Where the ones who are following the rules and deserve to be safe are left in the dark. **im fully aware this is not how it works lol**

Booked my vaccination shot for Sunday at VCC.

I can't wait to get my 5G microchip upgrade from Bill Gates!

[edit] The booking link in the email is one time use, so once you're booked you can't go back onto the site to change.

gilly 05-07-2021 01:03 PM

I (31) just got a booking email today and booked for this Sunday at Poirier Forum in Coquitlam.

EvoFire 05-07-2021 01:24 PM

Got the message this morning and I am in Burnaby South.....west? all the Burnaby sites are booked up, and there are no bookings past next week.

Booked for Killarney next week. I wonder if they only have enough shots to keep the sites running for another week or so.

Hondaracer 05-07-2021 01:29 PM

Where’s mine :(

For anyone interested, this mit article discusses mixing vaccines

https://www.technologyreview.com/202...oost-immunity/

Didn't realize Germany already told those who received AZ for their first shot, to get pfizer/moderna for their second shot instead

Coren 05-07-2021 01:44 PM

CivicBlues 05-07-2021 01:44 PM

Getting serious FOMO reading this thread now. When's all us WFH-living-in-a-non-hotspot -30-somethings gonna get their time? Soon after May 11 I hope :(

Presto 05-07-2021 01:54 PM

Woot.. My wife, who's 10 years younger (32), got her booking notice on the same day I got mine. We're both getting it done at the Langley Events Centre next week. Our postal code is in Surrey. My wife was so relieved that she cried lol.
