Yes. It's downtown. There isn't free parking.

Obsideon 05-10-2021 05:36 PM

I tried to book when I got my notification for restaurant workers. I think the website crashed due to the influx of candidates logging in. So I held off for the day and now I booked for next week at VCC. Personally I'm not really in a huge rush for it, already been 15 months anyway lol...

Vcc site is the Broadway campus. Clark and Broadway isn't downtown. Used to be tons of free parking along 6th Ave.

Isn't VCC Vancouver Convention Centre?

I don't think Vancouver Community College has vaccinations going daily.

Vancouver - Vancouver Community College
1155 E. BROADWAY,VANCOUVER,BC,V5T 4V5"

Semantics here, but I'd wager VCC more often refers to Vancouver Community College than Vancouver Convention Centre. It even has a station named after it. Think most people refer to the convention center as just "The Convention Centre" or "Canada Place, the new side".

COVID-19 vaccines

Looks like there are some temp ones including Vancouver Community College and Killarney Community Centre.

Coren 05-10-2021 07:19 PM

most people refer vcc is vancouver community college. - bunch of free street parking
most call vancouver convention centre the convention centre - paid parking lot

semantics are important. VCC is definitely not the convention centre.

I found parking right outside the Blenz Coffee on the corner of Glen Dr and 7th Ave yesterday. There was another car that was parked right up behind me that would normally get you a traffic ticket, but it wasn't blocking the roundabout. I think as long as you're not blocking traffic then you'll be fine. There are so many VPD officers just milling around trying to keep everyone in order that they could easily get tickets issued if they want. I asked the VPD officer while I was in line and he said they had that stretch of 7th Ave available for COVID parking.

VCC = Vancouver Community College. There's a skytrain station named after it...

JSALES 05-10-2021 09:20 PM

I booked for the convention centre only to find out there was one closer to me which wasnÂ’t available at the time. IÂ’m going to call tomorrow and see if thereÂ’s still spots available

I registered last Friday night, booked VCC Saturday, and got the shot today (Monday) at VCC. My postal code is in South Van and age 30+.

Parking was free on the streets. My appointment was at 1pm and finished at 2pm. There were at least 200 people deep in my cohort and about 15 nurse stations. Line moved fine and everyone was helpful.

It seems like they hired PNE workers to manage the queue because their name tags have the PNE logo on it.

A nice retired nurse gave me the shot. She was great. Quick and simple. It’s been about 12 hours now and my arm is starting to get sore. Time to sleep.

punkwax 05-11-2021 01:42 AM

My kid woke me up, just checked the phone to see I got the text a couple of hours ago. Booked for Saturday. :buttrock:

If there's a lesson to be learned here it's that CRS should never ask a date to meet at VCC because that will be the first and last date he'll get.

GLOW 05-11-2021 07:35 AM

the vancouver convention centres (there's 2) are named East and West. I recall when the new one opened up, I just called it "new" and "old", ppl working at both and vancouver tourism would correct me they didn't like calling the East one "old" :lol

Oscar_Binswood 05-11-2021 02:28 PM

If there’s anyone in the South Surrey/White Rock area, apparently the rec centre off 146/20 Ave is doing walk ins for first dose Moderna. Fiancé who works in Fraser Health got a notification as of 30 mins ago. No further info at the moment.

Is it? That’s 0.001%.

The odds of living in America and being struck by lightning is 0.0065%, so you’re 6x more likely in your life than get the blood clot.

Compared to 0% if you get another vaccine, yes it is

Considering they need to vaccinate like 30 million people, that would be 30K people sick or dead from blood clots they otherwise wouldn't get, if AZ was the only choice.

320icar 05-11-2021 03:20 PM

Didn’t realize the other vaccines were 100% risk free with zero chance of any ill effects

underscore 05-11-2021 03:48 PM

If they have the other ones available, which I doubt. Currently Covid has killed 8,342 people in Ontario out of 497,092 cases. That's 1.68% or 1,680 per 100k.

Out of 30M people, that'd be 500k+ dead.
