My example is going to be on the extreme end.

My dad is currently undergoing chemotherapy for his terminal pancreatic cancer. He had his Moderna shot back on April 4th and he said the only side effects were soreness at the injection site and he was a little tired. I had the Pfizer shot on Sunday and pretty much had the same side effects as he did.

There really isn’t anyway to predict how the vaccine will affect you.

Take this with a grain of salt but a friend's friend is CBSA and they said that the border will tentatively be open again for crossing starting July 1st if you have been vaccinated. I'll believe it when I see it

StylinRed 05-13-2021 04:20 PM

Ew 4th of July crowds

punkwax 05-13-2021 05:19 PM

I doubt White Rock will be doing fireworks for Canada Day, but I’ve brought the family to Semiahmoo resort and watched them from there before. Can’t wait to do that again and play Semiahmoo GCC.

My wife has been jonesing for Trader Joes too. I’m sure we’ll be getting over there soon after we’re allowed.

Everything better be fully open by then if that’s the case, otherwise it would be a complete joke

July 10 would be better.

For fucking real. Imagine being like "hey Americans come on in, but everyone who lives here please stay home, the restaurants and hotels are for our out of country tourists" although it's not a far stretch to believe.

68style 05-13-2021 06:48 PM

I can’t even imagine how busy the border will be when it opens again between being able to go somewhere AND the Canadian dollar gaining near 15% since the last time we could go there. It’s going to be mega crazy.

Qmx323 05-13-2021 06:55 PM

^ I will miss being able to walk down Robson/Burrard without being blocked an obese family of American's trying to "find somewhere they serve good ol' Murican food"

320icar 05-13-2021 07:28 PM

Am I the only one who would be perfectly happy if the border stayed permanently closed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Teriyaki 05-13-2021 08:08 PM

Initially thought the border being closed was a pretty big detriment. No cheap(er) gas runs, can't ship items then pick them up to save on shipping costs etc.

Adjusted just fine with the massively reduced driving, and just not buying those things that cost "shipping costs". Even if open, don't think I'd want to head down anytime soon.

Traum 05-13-2021 08:55 PM

I still need my car parts, man. It's bloody highway robbery with the shipping and brokerage fees to have them shipped up to Canada directly...

I finally got a text and was able to book :toot:

iwantaskyline 05-13-2021 10:21 PM

Was able to book May 24th in Burnaby...hearing Surrey bookings are faster?

SkinnyPupp 05-14-2021 12:45 AM

Singapore has another outbreak, seeing record levels since last July. They're going into full lockdown for a month. Work from home, restaurants closed, max gatherings 2 people. (except churches and mosques, those are mostly exempt. I guess religion makes you immune?)

Taiwan also seeing record numbers, 24 cases today

Vaccine update:

% Population vaccinated (at least 1 dose)

Hong Kong 15.0%
Singapore 32.6%
Taiwan 0.65%

I'm actually surprised that Canada isn't doing so bad now in terms of 1st dose:

As of Friday, just over 42 percent of Canadians have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

Of course, population in Canada with 2nd dose is really really small...

You can book any city and any location.

So every day it's different for who can give you the earlier booking.

I fucking loved last summer living downtown there were no tourists at all and best of all no FUCKING smoke belching tour buses clogging up the streets and driving like maniacs.

That said, I really miss going on Roadtrips down there. Can we make it one way only?

Hondaracer 05-14-2021 10:40 AM

All the places that are easy driving distances, Seattle, Portland, etc. Are all fucking dumps now given what’s been happening before during and after this pandemic

The only place I kinda want to go back to is Disneyland as I have a young neice and nephew who id love to take. But my wife kinda adamant on not spending any money in the states. She keeps bringing up euro Disney but I said I’d rather not go period if that’s the case lol

CivicBlues 05-14-2021 11:16 AM

Well if I'm road tripping in the states I'm not going to be spending much time in any cities.

Drive down to SF hugging the coast
Drive to Yellowstone NP
Drive to Crater Lake, Tahoe, Yosemite
Drive Vegas to Santa Fe along Route 66

Don't have to stop in a city bigger than a 100K if you don't want to.
