Just a few weeks backs you were telling an RS member he may want to take his dad to the states for medical treatment. Hope he didn't listen to because now he would be fckd. Quote:

A good majority of those in the construction industry take transit. My wife who is being forced at this point to continue working needs to take transit. So why is the construction industry one of the few needing to "keep the work spinning". I feel for the nurses and doctors. Also those working what i'm sure is hell like grocery stores. what do you do? are you working from home? doing your part to keep on spinning? and don't quote the labour code to me and my right to refuse. as for precautions, you even stepped foot on a site before??? "ok guys, you just touched something dirty, better go wash your hands" what every 2 mins? get real Quote:

I think you took my comment too personally. But really, emotion is clearly at state, and it’s hard to ignore those emotions when you are feeling scared. I’m sorry if paraphrasing the CLC to you brought up even more emotion. Not sure why that would irritate you. It’s your right not to go if it is indeed a hazard? The reason I quoted it is because I’m pretty familiar with it. Having once held the position of Safety Chair for my employee group. I apologize if you found it offensive, or your interpretation of it. If you really think rationally about your situation, is it rational? Only you can answer that, I don’t know what you do. I was just laying out your legal rights. As for your question regarding me? My industry is one of the few exceptions where I don’t even have a 14 day isolation period. My wife is also in one of these positions in a completely different industry. So yes. We are both working, and thus far not from home. Her hours are doubled, mine are slow. It is what it is. |
This morning my company just issued a directive that anyone who can work from home should do so. I had a couple techs today who were supposed to fly out to commission a project in Saskatchewan. They cancelled, obviously understandably I hold no ill will but right there's over a grand in lost airline fares and hotel cancellation fees right to the bottom line. Economic impact = real. After I left work this morning I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a couple things, I hadn't been shopping for a couple weeks now and holy shit I couldn't believe what people were saying until I saw it first hand and people are totally losing it. This woman in front of me had $500 in her cart and the cashier was like "I had someone with $1000 go through earlier today". What are people going to do if we have a disaster that actually disrupts the food supply? I always buy bulk/case lot and keep an inventory in my basement pantry and freezer simply because I hate running out of shit, and man is that paying its benefits now. |

I used to spend $700-1000 at Costco every 4-5 months for a family of 2 adults... |
Lol @ 6 months. I have a family of 5 including 3 kids who aren’t big eaters and I spend $4-500 pretty much every month at Costco. |
I'm a bit behind since it's morning here, so I just heard that they are closing the borders, but NOT to the US. That is INSANE. Unless it really spreads to South America, US is going to be the #2 country after China in terms of infections. You guys need to write to your MPs now, and put pressure on them to close the US border ASAP. We had the exact same thing happen. Borders closed to everyone BUT China, where the damn infection started. Our medical workers started a union overnight, and went on strike until the government closed most of the borders. These workers are now considered heroes, since they put their asses on the line, and will almost certainly be sued by the hospitals later. Do it now! If our inept, evil govt did reacted to their people, Canada should too. Hopefully without having to strike. This is unbelievable. |

Work from home if you can, but the 50+ gather ban is for social events and the like. A workplace with more than 50 people doesn't count as a gathering. That said, like I said, we're being given the option to work from home if applicable. |
My 2 weeks at home begins now. My part-time employer told me to stay home. |
