Have any of you local guys taken time off work to quarantine yet?

I work under the govt. Apparently we are allowed 2 weeks off when booking off sick now.

There's still Parq Casino................. crossing fingers............ Seniors Day is Wednesday, gulolol.

StylinRed 03-16-2020 02:13 AM

lol mg1 I shoulda known

I had a craving for some snacks just now, and went to the 24hr market at the mercato on commercial, and the place was busy... Why is it that everybody is buying up all the potatoes? :lol

Shelves were pretty barren, I guess I should say unsurprisingly, but I was surprised

StylinRed 03-16-2020 04:18 AM

Ah this corresponds with what some of my relatives were saying, that I mentioned some pages back ("fully recovered" patients having lung damage)

https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...ients-may-have

SkinnyPupp 03-16-2020 05:17 AM

Yeah if you have serious lung issues and need medical intervention to help you breathe, it's going to be a while before you can breathe fine again. Months and months, with possible lifetime decreased capacity. Ask anyone who's had pneumonia

SkinnyPupp 03-16-2020 06:10 AM

Korean church sprayed salt water inside followers' mouths, believing it would prevent coronavirus. 46 people got infected because they used the same nozzle

Mr.HappySilp 03-16-2020 06:23 AM

Work is actually preparing for all staff to work at home if needed. I have no idea how they can get us all laptops in just a day. Tech will still have to go out and do their work which sucks.

To be honest working from home sucks I will be stuck at home for like 18+ hours a day @@

twitchyzero 03-16-2020 06:50 AM

right now is not the time to bitch about cabin fever (unless you’re stuck with a bunch a known infected)

!Aznboi128 03-16-2020 07:23 AM

Mandatory work from home for us.

https://www.clio.com/blog/response-to-covid-19/

The company decided this last week just to be safe, considering there's 300 or so in the office it makes sense.

pastarocket 03-16-2020 07:32 AM

The Canucks' office staff got hit with Covid 19 too. One office employee is in self isolation. :heckno:

Euro7r 03-16-2020 07:42 AM

I already planned to work from home this week and monitor the situation as it progresses. COO issued memo last night, mandatory company wide all office based workers work from home for a couple of weeks. :fuckyea:

I’ve had pneumonia twice. It sucks. But not the end of the world. I just have a much higher chance of dying. Hahaha. But seriously, just a lifetime of coughing and easy infections. I’m pretty active so I can’t say my capacity is any worse then it should be.

blkgsr 03-16-2020 08:58 AM

what's that? you work in construction? see you at work tomorrow

because we all know no one in construction takes transit, or has meetings, or can get sick like everyone else

Borders closed

Hondaracer 03-16-2020 09:47 AM

Insane that the important points are in French and then translated.. the translation is very hard to hear on CTV..

hud 91gt 03-16-2020 09:49 AM

Not quite. International flights cancelled. Borders open to citizens and US citizens. Domestic US, Canada and mexico flights still on.

pastarocket 03-16-2020 09:51 AM

Trudeau's speech.

Non-residents are banned from entering the country, except for US citizens.

StylinRed 03-16-2020 09:55 AM

what did I hear wrong? thought he said no americans either

only govt diplomats, and non symptomatic canadians

domestic flights with the us still on to allow ppl to go back home, fly out, but no one in?

edit: ohh wow nevermind us citizens too wtf

edit2: "doesn't apply to us citizens for the moment" geeeez

To those who are non-residents or not permanent residents.

So far...................

Good thing I decided not to go today. Things can change as quickly as the weather in Vancouver.

I'm also going to self quarantine myself. Those filthy amuricans.................. :troll:

Teriyaki 03-16-2020 10:02 AM

I understand that it is extremely hard to close borders with the US with the flip of the switch. Hopefully this is just another step towards shutting it down.

Mr.HappySilp 03-16-2020 10:08 AM

LOL weak! Should have ban US citizen from entering as well since is getting pretty bad down there. What's worse is people aren't testing so you have no idea if you have the virus or not.

MG1 03-16-2020 10:18 AM

Need to laugh a bit........... to offset so much bad news.

https://www.keeplaughingforever.com/...na-virus-jokes

You know Chuck Norris had to be in there...........
