Richmond Night Market?
My dentist called me in March to cancel my middle of April cleaning appointment. Are dentists in BC holding out as well until Covid 19 is over? Or just offering emergency services only?

Costco / Winco runs are done for me. $2.3 butter (versus $4.75), milk and cheese... all gone. Beef was dirty cheap in the states.

All cycling event game over this year. Scuba Diving.. fuck.. I can't even get tank fills. Calligraphy and ping pong classes... all gone.. i'm running out of shit to do.

FIXT

Dr. Chandra Madhosingh was our coach at Britannia Secondary. One of his pet peeves. "It's Table Tennis, not Ping Pong."

Dr. Madhosingh along with Mr. Parmar, Dr. Theo Goldberg, Harold King (band teacher) were big influences. Mr. Parmar, Mr. King, and Dr. Goldbrg are no longer with us. RIP. Made a difference in the development of young minds for generations.

SCCBC has announced that all events in May (at Mission Raceway) will be cancelled. No races. No rentals.

Can I just go back into hibernation and have someone wake me up when this is all over? FailFish

Never before, not even during the Olympics or any hockey game, have I been so proud to be a Canadian - so glad to live in this amazing country. Lots of faults, for sure, but all said and done, it is a fantastic place to raise a family.

Tried to upload the mp3 file from govt. of Canada, but couldn't. Here's the link.........

https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-he...canada.html#a2

I plan to play it at 7:00 pm every day.

Having to postpone work on my car due to astronomical shipping costs from the US to Canada through RockAuto if I were to ship it here ($350-$400 shipping before potential duties).

I used to do Blaine runs at least once a week, ship a bunch of stuff to Blaine. A lot less selection for some stuff on Amazon CA vs US too, and stuff tends to be astronomically more costly for certain things I was looking to buy if I were to buy in Canada.

MG1 04-11-2020 01:43 PM

Not sure if it is still possible, but 24/7 Parcel had a mail forwarding service. Didn't sound that expensive, as long as the items were not heavy.

Might be cheaper to get stuff through Lordco, West Can, Burnaby Auto Parts, etc. At least you'll be supporting local businesses, which are hurting right now. Never thought I'd say this, but going south of the border doesn't seem that appealing........................ who am I kidding, LOL.

I've never ever ever ever found anything to be cheaper through any local auto stores, for any part for any of the last 2 cars I've owned and the 2 I currently own.

My BMW needs four pads and rotors. If I were to buy the exact same parts or equivalent in Canada, it's a smidge more than double if I were to order from RockAuto, shipping costs and exchange rate included. Car parts are just so significantly cheaper in the US than they are in Canada. Everything here is at least 50% more.

I don't know if you noticed but the cdn to usd has dropped significantly. It may not be as bad to buy locally anymore.

Why most certainly.

Not that many parts, but I have purchased parts for cheaper. Good guy prices. Wholesale prices. Level 7 prices from Lordco.............. educational prices if you know someone in that segment.

My son ordered some gaming shit from the states. It was a preorder. He asked me for details to my 24/7 Parcel account. It was all paid for and shipping address was confirmed. The bloody thing is now shipping. I told my son of this a few weeks ago and he tried to put a stop on it. Shipper from this company tells my son not to worry. "We understand the situation most of our Canadian customers are in. We will redirect the items to a Canadian address for no charge." Like, wow............ really nice of them.

They are not allowed to be opened yet because of what they do. it might be hazardous since most of the things will be airborne for a while. Even in emergency they are to be wearing n95 mask and protective gear in order to work on your teeth. Other than that, try not to break any teeth lol

MG1 04-11-2020 08:05 PM

I got a call from the receptionist at my dental clinic two weeks ago that I'm due for a teeth cleaning and that I should make an appointment. I should have done it right there and then. Frick. Maybe they have special way of doing stuff. Anyway, going to call them on Tuesday with fingers crossed.

If it's non essential, they won't do it. In emergencies like decay is down to the pulp, they will accommodate.

Maybe they're not busy at all and can get me in. Spend the next 6 hours disinfecting the equipment after they're done with their favourite customer.

Fafine 04-11-2020 08:10 PM

Lordco should have their trade show pricing for month of April

i've been 'home from work on time' to eat dinner with my family, and have been seeing my family more as a result of 'not staying late at work'.

gotta look at the bright side.

MG1 04-12-2020 12:25 PM

Totally agree. Families back together again. If anything, that is one of the biggest positives that has come from this disaster.

Parents being able to discuss the situation with their children. Coming up with plans to deal with it, etc. Lots of teachable moments.......... like media awareness. Separating fact from sensationalism. How other countries and governments have dealt with it. Calming them down and giving them hope.

Or, simply sit and watch a good movie or two together. Just not Harry Potter.

GLOW 04-12-2020 01:25 PM

yep, finally watched frozen 2, and onward with the kids

I think you're right and the more I think about it I highly doubt we'll see professional sports again in 2020.

It won't make sense, they can't fill the stadiums and even having players have contact with each other all it takes is one player to get it and the league is shut down again. Until there is a vaccine we're pretty much fucked, you'll see some sort of normal before than but not to the same extent as before the virus.

Mr.Money 04-12-2020 06:30 PM

really strange race tracks are closed...i mean aren't you gonna be spending 95% of you're time in your own car after safety prep racing?....imagine if they just set-up outdoor tents where its all breezy so at least you get constent fresh air and the run-thou for experienced drivers.

almost doesn't make sense.
