The only time I get a Fresh Slice pizza is when it's my birthday and pizza is free.

They have give aways. That's about it.

I've had an Uncle Fatty's pizza and it was good.

Went to Euter’s backyard this morning. Got there at 8:55. Line up was around the parking lot, out the driveway and up the street to the Library Services building. Damn. I went into the line at the driveway into the parking lot. As soon as the doors opened up, line up moved quickly. I got in, got two boxes of KN95 masks, paid for it, and got to the car by 9:20.

200 boxes left. Nobody was buying them, even though they were on sale. $10.00 off. $29.99 for box of 20. Individually wrapped.

I just got a hotdog at Costco. Those things are sooo good... I don't know how they do it... but the thing just melts in your mouth.. and the price just makes it so much sweeter..it puts IKEA hotdogs in shame.

Costco uses the weiners they sell there. I believe the buns, too. As for IKEA hot dogs, have you tried their veggie dogs? Still, my favourite dog is when KMS Tools has their three day sale. Smokies on a bun with.......... wait for it ............... caramelized<sp?> onions. Plus, they manage to get, not so easy to find, canned pop.

Costco poutine, still one of the best poutines around. Can't beat that price too.

Its always so tempting every time I walk out of with my cart of groceries.

Hard to resist the food court. Choc Ice cream is in a cup right now due to Covid.

We always have those Cavendish fries in the freezer. Best frozen fries. Yes they are the same ones they use in the food court.

Btw those Maisto 1:18 die cast are at Costco again. I got the 997 GT3 RS last year. Very nice quality for $20.

When costco changed to a new leader, he TOLD the new guy to not fuck with the prices on the hot dogs & food. Good on them.

It’s been $1.50 — with a soda — for over 30 years

Interesting, it says they are losing money on every hot dog combo sold @ $1.50usd.

I remember they used to be $2.00 cad once upon a time and was happy when they finally dropped it to $1.50 to match US pricing a decade+ ago...

^It's smart marketing for them. I'm sure IKEA operates on a loss within their cafeteria as well.

It's a method to attract you into the store and purchase. They know for every $1.50 hot dog they sell, your trip to the store may elicit hundreds of dollars in purchases.

Same reason they used to offer (prior to COVID) ridiculous amounts of food samples throughout the store, attracts people to visit Costco for that very reason, and with the long lines/busy parking lots, encourages further purchases in store.

The term is "Loss Leader"........... except I'm one of those few who they lose money on.

Loblaws and Walmart do it often and I take advantage of it.

I believe it was $1.99 (or maybe $2) before they changed it to $1.50. I don't remember when it was but it was within 10 years IIRC.

Yup. Hot dogs and rotisserie chicken are losers but they keep people coming in. I really wish they still served chicken bakes at the deli. Those are awesome.

Now that they have self checkout lanes, they don't really follow that thought anymore.

I'm not sure anyone else in this thread has mentioned it, but Costco by a huge margin has the best price on Propane on the lower island (not sure about the mainland). Literally 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of anywhere else in my experience. The drive from Saanich to Langford pays for itself in savings. Between my BBQ, fire pit, patio heater and travel trailer I go through a lot of propane.

Yes! $20 at Husky on Quadra. $10 at a Costco for a standard bbq size tank.

I rarely get the hot food from the Costco, mostly because my ideal time to go is after dinner on a thursday night which is about 7:00pm when it's not too busy.

Also going on a full stomach really helps with keeping the impulse food buys down.

When Costco president W. Craig Jelinek once complained to Costco co-founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal that their monolithic warehouse business was losing money on their famously cheap $1.50 hot dog and soda package, Sinegal listened, nodded, and then did his best to make his take on the situation perfectly clear.

"If you raise [the price of] the effing hot dog, I will kill you," Sinegal said. "Figure it out."

I just got home from Costco.......... having the hot dog as I type...........

Frick, it's good.

I have diced onions, but they're frozen.

BTW, No Frills/Superstore has frozen diced onions for $2.00 bag. I get the onions and the mirepoix, which is also $2.00 a bag, together.

u guys get the polish hotdogs or the regular ones?

i wish they sold lactose free homo milk instead of just 2%.

their avocados are always super big and plump and never fully or overly ripe. if they go bad its 100% your fault lol.

everything that's produce bagged, there's almost never any need to pick and choose, they're all good. other grocery stores u gotta flip and find the good ones that arent soft as fuck or half rotten.

also a trip to costco is like half a trip to best buy. i can check out what the most popular basic need semi premium electronics are. lol.

their vitamin section is also like 2-5x bigger than any other store lol.

i also love how they sell so many types of unsalted nuts prebagged. my only gripe is they dont sell pistachios raw, shelled, UNSALTED...

their online store is not bad and fedex is always quick to ship it.

20% off Hy's gift cards... 3% back costco MC at restaraunts. 23% off Hy's is a pretty good deal. you can't get that kinda deal anytime at any other premium steak house's. RS Hy's meet after COVID over lol.

once in a while they have 20% off apple itunes gift cards too. load a bunch up and add it to your account.

i'm all about the polish, dat garlic..

i was digging around in my phone looking for a pic i took regarding the dogs, so before they used to have a pic on the wall with the hot dogs dressed with the old condiments, onions, peppers, etc.

Now, it seems like they've already updated those pics of the hot dogs in the caffeteria area to show only kethcup and mustard on the pic.. so thats disapointing if those old condiments are never gonna return

I think you need to ask for the condiments, no? They have been pre-packaged in little clear containers for individual consumption for a while now.
