$16.99/box is not bad considering they cost about the same there (if not more!) Also, fuck Macau. Piece of trash place.

It’s dry as fuck. It’ll suck out every single drop of saliva from your mouth and then proceed to dry up your esophagus

bcrdukes 01-14-2025 09:41 PM

Sounds like typical Macau bullshit. Fuck that place and fuck those people.

Badhobz 01-15-2025 06:00 AM

you guys let me know if you see these cookies at other costcos. I was just at the richmond costco last Sunday and I didn't see anything like this, no Lucky Bamboo, no cookies, nothing.

I cant imagine they wheel this shit out 2 days afterwards.

Maybe its one of those special downtown things again (like the Kirkland sushi, tuna tataki, grilled chicken wings in a bag, next to their normal rotisserie chicken)

Now my Costco bill is gonna go up again... FailFish

The only cookies I get from Macau are the Koi Kei Bakery Phoenix Egg Roll with Seaweed and Shredded Pork Floss. My parents would previously get me a box or 2 every time they go to Hong Kong or Macau. You used to be able to buy it at few place in HK but I've been told you can only get it in Macau now so I didn't get my fix this year :okay:

That's why the Choi Heong Yuen stuff makes for a good substitute / replacement. They are widely available here at the usual Chinese supermarkets. I think I have only had the Koi Kei stuff a small handful of times, so I don't really know how they compare to other brands.

The Macau bakery brands (that are really made in Macau) are so much better than the PRC-made imitations that I don't even mind paying for the extra 30 - 40% premium.

bcrdukes 01-15-2025 09:19 AM

This is purely a personal preference but I prefer Choi Heong Yuen over Koi Kei. And agreed - the PRC made stuff is trash in comparison.

Brand wise good substitute for sure but unless I'm blind they don't sell the one where it's wrapped with seaweed with pork floss.

Sounds like your wife should swap places with badhobz!

bcrdukes 01-15-2025 01:02 PM

I think wives may band together to create an emotional support group to share their disdain. :lol

Me too...
If I could, I would have returned my wife for a full refund years ago.

This...this moment is when we've officially become boomers.

Costco/politics threads are the busiest in the forum and we've all resorted to "take my wife, please! jokes now"

Badhobz 01-15-2025 02:45 PM

if you retards would come up with a location for early morning dimsum on the weekends, id be totally down for that shit.

instead of a sing tao or a ming pao, I'm gonna grab a copy of richmond news (cuz its free) and sit there with my 10 plates of sui mai... I'm mean 1 plate of sui mai and not make eye contact with my wife for 2h.

radeonboy 01-15-2025 02:56 PM

^Not sure why this reminded me of all the old men in hk early dim sum restaurants looking at the softcore section of the newspaper :lol

I guess the earliest dim sum places open at 9AM - maybe something like Gingeri for easy Lansdowne parking

bcrdukes 01-15-2025 03:27 PM

It's not expensive enough for Badhobz, and by 9am, it's his afternoon nap time. Try again, please. :D
