Damnit I missed the 1st page |
It's already been a couple of days, no major news yet? |
Not before "free agent frenzy" |
Was there ever a playoff injury report from the Canucks? |
is extreme fatigue and exhaustion an injury? :lol |
I'm down if louie is going back. OEL can replace Edler's contract after next year. |
yea, but what would it cost to get him... it's not exactly like we have some real good pieces (we'd be willing to part with) to give back. Also, my guess is that Arizona wants some draft picks, cause they lost all theirs lol Would you take OEL for Loui + JV + Brock? |
Brock wont be part of it...they'd want youth...and a youth dman..so itll likely be rathbone/juolevi as a core peice but he should go for around what Subban went for last year i guess As much as his contract sucks if he is declining he can replace Edler after this year and if you can move LE its probably worth it on the short term? OEL/Hughes Edler/Myers UFA/Plug but after next year you'll probably have ~$55M in 8 players (OEL/Hughes/Myers/Petterson/Horvat/Miller/Boeser/Toffoli) assuming Toffoli signs for ~$5M per and Hughes/Pettersson get ~$9M per...leaving $26M for the bottom half of your lineups + goalies...I guess that's do-able? |
No way to Brock. Advantage isn't with Arizona now. Teams who may pay up for him such as Edmonton is on the no trade list for OEL. Arizona needs to clear money as they're bleed. Other teams in the league might not be making a lot. Good thing for Aqua and his blueberries. lol We can give Arizona louie now who's an asset as his cap hit is way less than what they're going to pay him now. Louie is an asset now to Arizona imo. Playable player at $6 mil caphit for 2 year but paying him half of that? lol Louie is great for cheapass teams |

It will be Hughes OEL Edler Severson (Ray Ferraro request) stay home D 1 / stay home D 2 |
OEL is a left side dman who doesn’t play on his off side (there are many articles about how much all of Arizona’s left-shot dmen struggled when Demers was injured in 18-19 and they had to experiment with two LHD on their off sides) Hughes has also spent basically zero time on his off side and banking on him to keep up his level of play in his sophomore season while playing an unfamiliar position is a recipe for disaster. The Canucks already have Hughes (who is a year away from a big payday) and Edler on the left side, so you’d have to think Edler would be moved if they’re going to make this move. From the sounds of it, we will probably lose Tanev and Stecher which leaves only Myers and Benn (playing his off side) on the right side. Arizona also wants a 1st and a 2nd to recoup the picks they lost for cheating the combine. This team isn’t good enough to be spending back-to-back 1sts on veterans especially when they’re in the midst of the worst cap crunch they’ve ever had. I’d love to get OEL but only if we’re going to get a sweetheart deal from Arizona (which we won’t). |
If we can dump some of the baggage like Sutter, Beagle, Ferland and Roussel along with Loui and add draft picks? But 7 years is a long time for a 29 year old ... |

- shed salary - acquire NHL-ready or near NHL-ready prospects - acquire draft picks, especially early-round picks None of these things are consistent with taking on several garbage contracts. |
Yea I can't see this deal happening either. Loui is out in 2 years and we will finally be free of that anchor. If you bring in OEL, you are stuck with his $8.25M cap hit for 7 years and he's 29 now. He probably has 3-4 good years left at most. If you thought the Myer's contract was bad, imagine adding another aging defenseman with an even bigger cap hit. I rather keep the money for Hughes/Pettersen cause they are going to get paid. |

I think Arizona might do that. They're bleeding money. OEL dumps $50 mil out for the next 70 years. I'm hoping a Louie, Virtanen, and prospect aside from hoglander or podkozin. |
If you can convert those anchor contracts in to something useful might as well OEL would probably be the best dman we ever had in the franchise (aside from Hughes) Plus in order to compete this team probably needs 2 more top 4 dmen and that would be hard if no one is willing to take eriksson, sutter, beagle, baert |
Being shortlisted as one of only two teams OEL would waive his NMC for is a huge bargaining chip. That said, I hope we don’t take that contract on unless it’s a sweetheart deal. That money is much better spent on Pietrangelo if possible. |
Pietrangelo wants $10 mill a season! |
Pietro is the better D but how are you going to fit him in even if you beat out the likes of TML and LVGK? Anyone with a high salary needs to be offset with one of our anchors...there’s $14m available to be spread around like 5 spots which is why OEL should be entertained if they can take back some dead weight cuz even to get rid of such dead weight would cost probably at least a 2nd or a virtanen |
OEL gets paid $8.25 and would play 2nd line behind Huggy. Pietro is better and a righty. Screams no brainer to me. Don’t think he’s going to come here though so this is all speculation. |
ARI put Grabner on waivers for buyout.... Maybe getting ready for something, like taking on multiple bad contracts :derp: |
