Nice to get a Stanley Cup winning goalie in Holtby! SeemsGood

And re-signed Motte

Hondaracer 10-09-2020 02:42 PM

6X6 was too rich and too risky

Good for Markstrom, took him a long time to get where he is and to risk taking 4X5 or somthing with less overall money from the Canucks isnt doing you much good for your family in the big picture, could have been a 10 mil difference over the term of the contract.

Gotta get paid

Teriyaki 10-09-2020 02:48 PM

10m will certainly buy a lot of Canada Goose Jackets for those cold nights in Calgary

bobbinka 10-09-2020 03:31 PM

Yea, definitely dont like that... It's buyout proof. Doesnt say on there, but I believe there's a full NMC for all 6 years. Good for him, but not good for the team.

It's like they're saying... go ahead, Seattle. Pay for him if you want.

Holtby turned down a better offer from Oilers. Ian Clark was a big reason to come here.
GMJB made offer to Tanev. He'll decide by tomorrow morning.
GMJB says he will circle back to Toffoli if he can offload money (good luck, buddy)

Still no takers on Loui Erikkson?

Good on Benning not doing that. I think he learned from the Vegas expansion and not be exposed.

If we signed Markstrom, we could easily face a pittsburgh scenario with Fleury/Murray issue.

Krug signed with Blues so AP might be going somewhere else now?

It would be sick if we can move some money out and sign AP.

That's fucking hilarious, made me lol. It also functions as a "yeah, they can try but we want you here" message to Holtby.

It's great to see that players took notice of what our team and franchise are moving towards. Exciting hockey, huge potential, and growing success have made us a destination to look forward to again. So long as players can handle to local fervor surrounding the team that is :smug:

Tanev signs with Calgary. 4 years at 4.5 million per season.

-from Sportsnet:

Hours after signing Jacob Markstrom, Flames GM Brad Treliving inks defenceman Chris Tanev to a four-year contract worth $4.5 million per season.

The Canucks' best offer to retain Tanev today was reportedly for two years and approximately $4 million per season.

Who knew Calgary wanted to BE us soooo bad hahaha

Blah_Teggie 10-09-2020 07:13 PM

It’s Calgary’s revenge for us taking Sven and Granlund back in the day. Looks like they got us back!

spoon.ek9 10-09-2020 07:26 PM

Can't blame the vets looking for job security and "final" pay outs I guess. Also business side of things here. Wtf is our defense going to look like now??

bobbinka 10-09-2020 07:28 PM

This one's gonna hurt us... not only because he was so good on defence, but it also means JB will likely go all-in on Tyson Barrie.

On the other hand, I don't think Flames are going to get what they think they're going to get. He had a good season without any injuries because he played with Hughes, and Hughes' possession time was through the roof. He was getting stapled to the boards a lot less compared to the prior years.

highfive 10-09-2020 07:29 PM

No money to sign Barrie. Only $8 mil to fill the rest of the line up.

Sw0op 10-09-2020 07:42 PM

there's like $3-$4M available to comfortably fit a top 4 dman...but it sounds like Barrie is asking a lot and more than that

68style 10-09-2020 08:27 PM

Sucks if there’s still no crowds when Calgary comes in to town, they both deserve the minute+ standing O they should get

mb_ 10-09-2020 08:58 PM

Long shot but let's go Petro! :troll:

highfive 10-09-2020 09:03 PM

Ppl online was like well have fun Calgary paying marky and Tanev $10 mil a year for the next four years. I’m thinking well we’re doing that with suter and Louie. Lol

SkinnyPupp 10-09-2020 09:35 PM

Really sucks to lose Tanev

BlackV62K2 10-09-2020 09:44 PM

Damn it's gonna suck even more losing to the lames now. Who moves up to Tanev's spot now

68style 10-09-2020 10:06 PM

Brenden Dillon maybe? Saw some talk about him being a Surrey boy

Never mind just saw he signed with Washington... boo

Jmac 10-09-2020 10:06 PM

Both contracts are 2 years too long, but I’d rather have bad contracts for good players than bad contracts for mediocre/bad players. Too bad we already have too many of the latter to afford the former.
