Y'know, small hybrid motor for quasi-AWD or extra oomph but paired with an actual motor wouldn't be too bad actually. Like the CRZ, but better.

I really wouldn't be all that surprised if the car was designed with the capability to adopt some sort of electrification, you know? That's the general direction new cars are heading, and even though this gen 2 car is really just a refresh of the first gen, I wouldn't rule out the electrification possibilities.

Oh look. It's not an EV or Hybrid. Shocking.
2.4L just as I predicted.
Looks like my driveway stays uneaten for another year.

228hp isn’t bad, I knew they wouldn’t do the turbo motor though...... I guess it would encroach or surpass the STI’s performance or the lower model Supra’s on Toyota’s side....

The new BRZ looks pretty beefy this time around, especially at the rear quarters.
Looks pretty good in WRB

Dumb question, but will Toyota's version of this look the same? Or will it be different?

While it does get an additional 23 hp and 28 pound-feet of torque thanks to its new 2.4-liter horizontally opposed engine, just about everything else on the 2022 BRZ's spec sheet appears to pick up right where the 2020 model left off.
| Just want to say, I’m only complaining because it has so much potential. Any good driver in a stock 2013 FRS would kick my ass on track in my modified RS. So think how amazing it would be with the wrx motor

New naturally-aspirated, 2.4L Boxer four. Revs to 7000 RPM (or 7500?), peak torque at 3,700 RPM (compared to 6,400 RPM in the outgoing one).
228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, increases of 23 horsepower and 28 lb-ft respectively.
Six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential come standard. Optional six-auto with Sport Mode.
New Track Mode turns the gauge cluster into a horizontal graph that makes it easier to see the RPM's at a glance.
Infotainment screen enlarged by an inch, to 8.0 inches
Just over an inch longer and half an inch lower. Wheelbase is longer by two-tenths of an inch. Widened rear track.
Slight weight gain, from 2798 to 2815-pounds (17 pounds / 7.7 kilos) for the manual model. BRZ Limited models are 2,835 pounds with the MT and 2,881 pounds with AT, a weight gain of 37 and 41 pounds (16.7 and 18.6 kilos) respectively.
Claimed 60-percent increase in front torsional rigidity, reducing front-end flex and making for sharper turn-in. 50-percent improvement in torsional rigidity for the whole chassis.
Updated traction/stability control system has five different settings. Subaru says the new system will “allow more input from the driver before it activates the traction system,” and can be turned off by holding down the drive mode and traction control buttons behind the gear-shifter.

How are people going to put absurdly large spoilers on them with that trunk lid? What was Subaru thinking? Quote:
