the costco dual hose (it's really a big fat one partitioned) weighs about 80lbs, lugging it up/down the stairs is not fun given i'm an office worker that's sat on his ass for 2 years, so i agree, at best you roll it out of your storage room to where ever you want to install it (same floor).

I have a single hose unit from Costco, we push the size of room that it can cool, but it did keep us from dying. We used it in the living room, and a few nights we all slept out here cuz it was sooo hot.

This year I plan to order a second window kit, so we can roll it from the children’s play room during the day over to the living room at night. Don’t think a second AC unit is in the budget this year.

once you guys see them out let us know in this thread

Mikoyan 04-04-2022 09:39 AM

Haven't seen them in store yet at Costco, but they're available online now.

OriginalJC 04-04-2022 09:55 AM

Costco langley had the Danby units in store. I saw a ton of people with one in their cart

blkgsr 04-05-2022 11:39 AM

if you get one make sure you test it right away and not wait til summer. I had one that worked fine but my friend got a lemon and had to lug the damn 100 lb unit back to costco to return.

GLOW 04-05-2022 01:12 PM

damn price went up by like $100 :yuno:

3.1 star review?

Cue:
It's not silent
It doesn't cool my 140000sqft mansion
I tried to return it after summer and they didn't take it back
It's heavy
It flooded because I didn't tighten the drain and it ruined my hardwood floors
It stopped working (but I forgot to include the part where I dropped it several times lugging it up the stairs)
It doesn't work with my 1947 condo windows that tilt open

Yah pretty much unless you spend $$$$ for top of the line portable ACs, every AC is going to be loud. It's not going to be as effective and efficient as you imagine it to be. It's going to be heavy as fuck and not "portable".

People need to be realistic with their expectations.

Absolutely bang on and the it not really being that portable and heavy is kind of annoying but I have 3 portable ACs, one for the living room, one for the master, and one for my sons room and I've accepted that it's a piece of furniture that's just part of the room year round whether it's used or not. I ain't lugging that thing down 2 flights of stairs and then across the complex then underground to the my storage locker. I can see if someone has it on the main floor and can just dolly that thing straight out into their garage or something but for me fuck that.

AC units might be one of the hardest things to utilize reviews for like home insurance etc. it’s so subjective

I know it's the end of summer when you see all the A/C returns at Costco.

Also, the other week I saw someone return 6-8 boxes of unused procedure and kn95 masks.

I hate those people. No shame I guess.

My dad's friend would go on vacation, rent a U-Haul, go to Costco, grab a mattress.

Return the mattress at the end of the vacation

19.95$ for a place to sleep per night
