Another high pressure system moving in going to create some more abnormally high temps. Wonder if any of these people that returned their ACs going to rebuy again

MG1 07-26-2021 06:26 PM

I still haven't unboxed the emergency spare AC I got from Costco.

HonestTea 07-27-2021 10:23 AM

Another heat dome incoming?

Expresso 07-27-2021 10:52 AM

AC back in stock at Costco.

No, just the usual July summer Vancouver heat.
World is not coming to an end, yet.

westopher 07-27-2021 11:05 AM

We have been above average for seasonal temperatures by a substantial amount for like 2 months now. It’s definitely not looking great lol.

Maybe if this continues raincouver will be the new california weather wise, im 100% in for that.
It will give me a reason to stick around, all we need now is 28C water to surf in

westopher 07-27-2021 12:48 PM

I’m gonna need to switch to a car brand with reliable cooling systems if this continues

320icar 07-27-2021 12:50 PM

Nope, I hate the heat. I’m a cold weather guy so this fuckin sucks

There is currently a heat dome, but it is down south baking up basically the entire continental US. It certainly isn't something I want to see, but at least I am glad that we are not getting hit here...

donk. 07-27-2021 01:10 PM

No wonder you guys like popsicles

hud 91gt 07-27-2021 01:43 PM

If anyone is interested, picked up 2 of the Danby 14,000btu portable ACs when they were available online. My in laws don’t want it so it is getting returned. If someone on here is having trouble sourcing one, PM for pickup tonight before I return it in the morning. $593.03 Port Coquitlam
.

bobbinka 07-27-2021 02:55 PM

Plus, if it's hot, you can't really do anything about it. If it's cold, you bundle up like an eskimo........... oh shit..... can't say that, right, Edmonton? Like an Inuit...... indigenous people of the far north.

It's getting hot in here......... so take off all your clothes.............. on second thought..........

Actually, controlled burns are a great way to prevent large forest fires.

Exactly, in Taiwan I remember laying on the tile floor cuz I couldn't sleep at all. Way too humid and muggy. If it's cold, layer up, if it's hot, barebacking the kitchen floor is the max you can go haha.

On/off topic, a few of my plants died during the heat dome, I just bought them a month ago. I wAnder if I can get a warranty replacement :considered:

omg I can't imagine not having an AC in Taiwan. I see my neighbours keep their doors and windows open, and just picture them doing what you did all day.. Just lay there, half asleep, drinking water all day.

Obsideon 07-27-2021 07:52 PM

Yeah we stayed mostly in a hotel in Taipei but we trained down south to Kaohsiung to visit my wife's grandparents. I guess they are used to the climate by now and they live in a small apartment with no AC. They are completely fine with it, my Canadian ass was melting. I had to get a hotel right after.

When I was in Singapore, I tried to acclimate myself, so I left my balcony doors open, it didn't help, I just laid there melting, couldn't even go out in the daytime it was so bad, coupled with smoke from a volcano in Indonesia, I thought I was gonna die :lol

Its not that bad

If i can haul 800lbs of equipment onto a roof with dual exterior ladder access, and replace compressors in 39C at noon under the sun

You can push pencils and mash keyboards in your office

office ladies have enterted the chat

JDMDreams 07-30-2021 02:04 PM

Thats twice now I’ve noticed you point out how “tough” your job is. I know plenty enough people in HVAC to know that you’re likely very well compensated for a job that really isn’t that difficult at the end of the day. Sure it might suck during these recent and uncommon heatwaves, but you chose your profession and I’m sure you’re laughing 8-9+ months out of 12 here in BC.

For the record, my toesies were cold af while I was mashing my keyboard today. Central AC at home though :awwyeah:

donk. 07-30-2021 05:39 PM

Never said it was tough, just love ripping on office people

8-9 months of the year, the only person who is laughing, is the rain that i stand under

2-3 months of the year, the only person laughing, is the 0c weather

You ever watch jackass, the scene with the sweatsuit? Thats hvacs above 26C, 7am-3pm

Thanks to you airconditioned keyboard mashers im employed, and get to rip on you VIA revscene

MG1 07-30-2021 05:40 PM

punkwax, I don't care what your friends say about you, you are gold!
